Position Summary:
The Senior Human Resources Business Partner – Labour Relations, Compensation and Benefits will utilize a broad breadth of HR skills and knowledge to partner with clients and provide leadership, support and strategic business thinking in clinical and non-clinical settings. The incumbent will collaborate with a variety of stakeholders to develop and implement creative solutions aligned with the Hospital's mission, vision and strategic direction in support of the overall goal of transforming healthcare. In addition, the incumbent will provide consultation to leadership on compensation, benefits as well as employment and labour relations.
Primary Responsibilities
- Coordinate and drive HR initiatives including effective and positive labour relations, total compensation programs, benefit and pension administration.
- Bring value-added professional HR advice and counsel for effective and efficient delivery to clients in areas of total compensation, conflict resolution, talent and performance matters, grievance handling and other general HR issues.
- Keep abreast of current legislation and amendments or changes in the Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, the Labour Relations Act, Pay Equity Act and any other relevant legislation.
- Effective administration, interpretation and application of two collective agreements (SEIU and ONA) and Hospital policies, guidelines and directives
- Facilitate timely resolution of all employee and labour relations issues while maintaining an appropriate balance between employee and management advocacy
- Provide consultative and supportive services to managers and employees through effective interpretation and administration of Hospital policies, and Employment Related Legislation
- Ensure salary administration is consistent with Collective Agreements and Hospital Policy and with regard to similar positions in the health care environment
- Ensure the proper administration of employee benefit plans by performing initial benefit information sessions and enrolment with employees, responding to benefit inquiries, and providing benefit plan updates as required
- Participate in the review and development of the Hospital’s compensation programs, and ensure plans are equitable, competitive and consistent with Collective Agreements, Policies and Hospital philosophy
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications/experience:
- University degree and/or College Diploma in Human Resources Management or a related discipline
- HRPA member in good standing
- CHRP designation is preferred
- Minimum five (5) years’ HR Business Partner or equivalent experience
- Labour relations experience in a unionized environment is required
- Knowledge of QHR is considered an asset
- Excellent knowledge of Windows Operating System and Microsoft Office
- Demonstrated advanced skills in investigation, analysis, coaching, negotiation, facilitation, communication, decision making, consultation, mediation, counseling, interviewing, change management
