Accommodations are available during the hiring process, upon request.As a Youth Employment Counsellor, you will be a member of the Youth Employment Team, providing career and employment counselling services to youth aged 15 to 24 years. Primary duties include:
- Provide one-to-one counselling to help clients with job searches and career planning, including the development of action plans.
- Create and deliver one-to-one and group training in areas such as career planning, interviewing, and job search strategies.
- Design and implement relevant education, training, and employment programs in collaboration with Youth Employment career and employment staff.
- Provide social and career assessments to clients using a combination of methods including counselling, interviewing, and standardized testing.
- Develop and maintain knowledge and relationships within the community to provide referrals and enhance accessibility to necessary services.
- Provide information on training and educational programs as well as labour market trends.
- Maintain client files and statistical reporting.
Qualifications- A degree in a Social Science field such as Social Work, Human Services, Recreation, Disability Studies or a related field with at least 2 years of experience in career planning, employment counselling, and working with at risk youth and experience in directly addressing the social, emotional and developmental needs of youth, OR;
- A 2-year diploma in a Social Science field such as Social Work, Human Services, Recreation, Disability Studies or a related field and at least 4 years of experience working with vulnerable youth in the career development field.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of youth employment trends would be considered an asset.
- Success in this role requires exceptional work standards, the ability to maintain a high energy level, take initiative, work effectively in a team environment, and deal effectively with stressful situations as they arise.
- You possess strong communication, counselling, and client engagement/rapport building skills.
Pre-employment Requirements- A security clearance will be conducted.

Compensation: Pay Grade 9 $37.79 - 50.55 per hourDays of Work: This position typically works a 5 daywork week, with 1 day off in each 3 week cycle.
Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
