The HR Coordinator will act as an integral member of the Human Resources team. Reporting to the Sr. Director, Human Resources, this individual will collaborate across the business to support the Distribution Centre and Leather Factory. The ideal candidate will have broad generalist experience across HR with a passion for connecting with people. Exceptional organizational skills will allow you to manage the HR calendar and proactively plan, prepare, and communicate initiatives and processes.

The Human Resources Coordinator for Roots will be responsible for and evaluated on the following:
- Manage the inquiries that are sent via email inbox and responding to regular employee concerns and requests.
- Dayforce Administration – develop a solid understanding of the modules in Dayforce, become proficient in overall use and set up of employee profiles, with specific expertise in the Performance and Goal Setting modules. Stay current on system updates and educate team as required on new features
- Developing and providing monthly analytics and reports
- Recruiting
- Maintaining and managing the HRIS/ATS system (Dayforce) including maintaining system documentation, being a power user, generating reports and training others to use the system as needed.
- Coordinating the scheduling of interviews between candidates and hiring managers
- Supporting the streamlining and elevating of the onboarding experience
- Support recruitment and peak planning. This includes posting job requisitions in Dayforce.
- Support and facilitate job fair as required.
- Manage letter management to ensure that the letters remain updated.
- Update hiring manager as required.
- Health & Safety – work with Sr. Director, Human Resources to build and maintain health & safety practices at each location. This includes training, communication, audits, and monthly walk arounds. Maintain records and meeting minutes for each location.
- Prepare monthly reporting for team and senior leadership communication.
- Vacation, LOA, Contract expiries, Turnover, Org Charts
- Maintain policies for all locations, posting, tracking, updating as needed.
- Preparation of employee letters as needed (offer, termination, employment confirmations)
- Support in responding to inquiries from employees at the Distribution Centre and Leather Factory in a timely manner.
- Work with Sr. Director, Human Resources as necessary to support resolving issues from employees and managers, in keeping with company processes and philosophies.
- Manage medical leaves and leave of absence communication with all employees.
- Assist with Ad Hoc HR project completion and meets required deadlines.
- Assist in the research and development of various human resource procedures, policies, and initiatives.
- Support with communications and training of all cyclical processes (performance reviews, merit, goal setting)
Top candidates for the Human Resources Coordinator role will have the following:
- Post-secondary degree in Human Resources Management or equivalent
- 2+ years’ experience supporting and HR department preferably in a retail organization.
- CHRP or CHRL/CHRE designation or working towards designation an asset.
- Current knowledge of HR practices and employment legislation
- Expert knowledge of HRIS systems (Ceridian Dayforce preferred)
- Ability to set priorities and undertake multiple tasks with tight deadlines.
- Effective in setting timelines, organizing work and communicating with team.
- Excellent communicator (written and verbal, formal and informal) as well as strong facilitation skills with a senior audience and ability to simply and concisely communicate complex information.
- Strong customer service orientation
- Must be able to represent Roots in a positive manner both internally and externally.
