HUMAN RESOURCES COORDINATOR
Reports to: Vice President – Human Resources

Type: Contract, Maternity Leave Coverage
About the role:
We are looking for an HR Coordinator as the primary contact for a variety of employee relations and general HR programs supporting both of our Hamilton and Nanticoke locations. With an emphasis on the employee lifecycle process, the HR Coordinator will work with various levels of the organization as the first line of support for HR related inquiries and functions, including but not limited to: Recruitment, HRIS, Training and Organizational Development.

Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with Recruitment and Training to support new hires through the onboarding process. This will include tasks such as preparing offer letters, processing background checks, and booking pre-employment medicals.
- Accept, obtain approvals for, and process requests from Managers pertaining to a variety of employee lifecycle movements
- Act as a liaison for HR processes, fostering ongoing communication between Managers and HR colleagues (such as Organizational Development, Recruitment, and Compensation)
- Maintain timely and accurate employee data both electronically in the HRIS database as well as the employee file dockets
- Provide front-line support as required to employees at all levels, answering inquiries and directing/escalating issues accordingly
- Participate in audits as needed
- Provide general administrative support to HR Management
- Other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications:
- University degree or equivalent in Human Resources or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in HR administration
Job Skills and Knowledge:
- Solid understanding of relevant legislation (i.e. Federal and Provincial legislation pertaining to Employment Standards)
- Highly process-oriented with the ability to adapt to various needs and trends of the business
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, highly visible role with exposure to all levels of management
- Strong Computer skills (Microsoft Office)
- Strong interpersonal skills for communicating with multiple levels of the business
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and provide quick turnaround with communication and task completion
- Ability to meet deadlines on a regular basis
- Experience with HRIS, specifically Microsoft D365 is considered an asset
- Experience in a unionized workplace is an asset
- CHRP designation is preferred
Your work environment:
- Normal, fast-paced office environment for a high impact team
- Plant operations run 24 hours/ 365 days a year
- Work schedule is Mondays to Fridays, days, 8am-4:15pm
- Flexibility with work hours, the possibility of work outside normal office hours may occur
