Summary:
Reporting to HR Coordinator, the HR Intern will have the unique opportunity to work collaboratively with various teams within the organization, with a focus on Employee Experience, hiring, on-boarding, training, and internal communications. This opportunity is intended for students with co-op requirements at their respective college or university. Upon the completion of a successful co-op term, the selected applicant may have the opportunity to join our Human Resources team on a permanent basis.
Responsibilities:
- Provide support to the wider people & inclusion team on researching, planning, and executing organizational wide HR programs & initiatives.
- Assist in hiring and recruiting contractors and employees.
- Support the development of executive and non-executive level presentations.
- Assist in the coordination and administration of operational HR activities including but not limited to onboarding, employee engagement and performance management.
- Coordinate and support the creation of key HR and leadership communications for both full-time and hourly employees that elevates the employee experience, including but not limited to employee engagement campaigns and surveys, equity, diversity and inclusion activities, celebration and recognition, organizational changes, health and safety updates, etc.
- Adhere to all Coast2Coast policies.
- Work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- Perform other administrative or service functions as required.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution studying Commerce, Human Resources, Organizational Behavior, Psychology or Related Field.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Strong communication skills (verbal, written and visual) with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders across all levels
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Highly organized with the ability to work on multiple projects / programs with tight deadlines
- Creative mindset, thinks outside the box and passionate about employee experience
- Accountable for accuracy and timeliness of work within the department
- Personal integrity when handling confidential information
- Familiarity with HR Software (Workforce) an asset
- Previous internship experience in an HR related field an asset
