Overview:
In a team-based environment working closely with the other Human Resources Services team members, you will assist with the administration and processing of the payroll, in addition to providing recruitment, employee benefits, salary and benefit administration, human resources administration, employee relations, labour relations and collective bargaining.
Responsibilities:- Administers the recruitment of unionized and management positions; including advertising, screening, interviewing, regretting, offers, relocation arrangements, preparing documentation, and responding to staffing appeals on behalf of the Corporation as directed by the Manager.
- Provides advice and assistance on the interpretation and application of the Collective Agreement.
- Assists management in dealing with employee performance issues. Interviews employees with work-related problems. Arranges outside assistance as appropriate. Advises management on responses to first level grievances.
- Administers medical travel with accordance to the Collective Agreement.
- Undertakes support tasks related to the human resources functions such as time entry and leave and attendance, setting up and maintaining files and records, distributing, and processing forms, writing routine human resources correspondence, maintaining schedules for the Corporation’s apartments, updating organizational charts, long service awards and other administrative duties.
Qualifications:- A two-year diploma in Human Resources/Labour Relations, or another related field. Equivalencies may be considered.
- A minimum of five years directly related experience in all aspects of human resources, including labour relations and collective bargaining.
- CPHR and / or Payroll designation considered an asset.
- Knowledge of applicable human resources and labour relations legislation, related regulations, principles, and best practices.
- Successful Criminal Records Check required.
- Computer skills to operate within the Microsoft Suite of programs.
- Superior ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills to ensure work is appropriately priorized and actioned to meet Human Resources and the Corporation’s objectives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Salary for this position ranges from $52.18/hr - $63.40/hr. We offer a comprehensive benefits package which includes health and dental benefits, disability insurance, life insurance, paid sick days and a defined benefits pension plan. Relocation assistance will be provided.
