The Simcoe County District School Board is seeking qualified
applicants for the position of Assistant Manager, Human Resource Services. This
position will provide support within the department in the areas of Staff
Recruitment/Retention, Employee Experience and Labour Relations. The Assistant
Manager will focus on cultivating relationships and critical communication
lines within the Human Resources team and across other departments. As a member of the HR Services management
team, reporting to the Manager of Human Resource Services, the Assistant
Manager’s primary responsibilities include: providing HR focused coordination
and leadership, direction and coaching to administrators, managers and
employees regarding performance management, investigations and policy
implementation; support the negotiation of collective agreements; coordinate
recruitment and staffing, providing guidance with employee relations issues and
acting as liaison for data requests from external agencies. The Manager and Assistant Manager partnership
will require trust and collaboration, while inspiring and motivating others,
ensuring a culture of belonging. The successful candidate will be highly motivated,
personable and will thrive working both independently and as a team member in a
fast-paced, sensitive and confidential environment. The ideal candidate will foster a safe,
healthy, respectful working culture and will promote trust, accountability and
transparency in accordance with the school board’s strategic priorities.
Qualifications and Skills
Required:
University
Degree in Labour Relations, Business or Human Resources;
CHRP or CHRL designation is
required;
Several
years of related progressive experience gained in a complex unionized
environment, including a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory capacity;
Proven
success working constructively in a multi-union environment using proactive
problem solving and conflict resolution skills;
Experience
in grievance, mediation and arbitration management;
Experience
with HR metrics and knowledge of HR systems and databases;
Excellent
interpersonal, communication, presentation, organizational and leadership
skills to function in a hybrid team based environment;
Proven capability to build and
effectively manage purposeful relationships through collaboration and
engagement;
Proven capability with project
management and change management;
Excellent
analytical, problem solving, creativity and conflict resolution skills;
In-depth
practical knowledge of Labour Law, Employment Standards Act, the Human Rights
Code, and HR best practices;
Knowledge
of the Education Act and experience with DEI are considered assets;
Attendance at meetings outside
normal working hours will be required;
Other duties as assigned.

This
position works twelve (12) months of the year. The compensation range for this twelve
(12) month position is $112,921 per year, depending on qualifications and
experience. This position is based on a thirty-five (35) hour work week.
Participation in the OMERS Pension Plan is mandatory for all
full-time permanent employees,
even if currently in receipt of an OMERS pension.
