The posting closes at 12:01am on the morning of the closing date***Under the direction of the Chair and Associate Chair, Information and Communications Technology - Applications and Programming, the Professor will be required to teach courses in Computer Programming within the School of Advanced Technology. The Professor will be responsible for facilitating and guiding learning and providing an effective learning environment for all students.The professional responsibilities include:The teaching of assigned courses, including:
- delivery of regularly scheduled instruction in the Fall, Winter, or Summer terms in home department or across departments
- ensuring student awareness of course learning outcomes and instructional and evaluation techniques
- tutoring and academic counselling of students in assigned groups
- providing a learning environment which makes effective use of available resources including educational technologies
- evaluating student progress/achievement and assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of the student’s work within assigned courses
- providing a learning environment that is conducive to success for all students
- consulting with the Professors responsible for the courses of instruction on the effectiveness of the instruction in attaining the stated program objectives.
The provision of academic leadership, including:- providing guidance to students
- participating on consultative committees, and departmental/faculty meetings
- liaising with community members, engaging in program, Department, School or Faculty, and College promotion
- remaining current in the field of study and maintaining awareness of emerging trends and practices related to teaching and learning in higher education
- modeling the College values – Caring. Learning. Integrity. Respect.
Required Qualifications:- Advanced diploma (3 years) or Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Programming, Computer Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or Computer Science is required. Ontario College Graduate Certificate will be considered.
- Industry experience in Enterprise application, Java programming, Java EE/Java Enterprise Edition, RESTful API/REST, JPA/Java Persistence API, Java Server Faces/JSF, Multi-tier application, and Web security.
- Teaching experience in a postsecondary setting is considered an asset.
