Job Description
Job Purpose:
The Project Manager role will report to the Manager, BITS PMO. The Project Manager will manage the planning, execution, delivery, and eventually sustainable handoff of fit-for-purpose technology solutions within defined scope, budget, and schedule. This role will also actively contribute to continuously improving internal project execution processes and coaching others within the organization.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Project Execution (Business Analysis, Project Management, Change Management).
- Define project scope, objectives and deliverables that support the business goals in collaboration with clients, teams, and stakeholders.
- Plan and schedule project timelines, workflow and milestones using the BITS Project Execution Framework, tools, and processes.
- Work with BITS PMO and business stakeholders to identify and secure the resources required to execute the project successfully.
- Utilize the BITS PMO Execution Framework, standards, and processes throughout project execution.
- Track project milestones and deliverables, ensuring corrective action is taken, when necessary, to improve project performance.
- Requirements definition for 3rd party solution RFQ/RFP process, analyzing 3rd party vendors/solutions and managing their implementation teams, as applicable.
- Liaising between business stakeholders, internal technical resources, and 3rd party resources.
- Define governance, gain alignment, and ensure sustainable hand-off of processes/solutions.
- Ensure projects are being delivered on time and within scope and budget.
- Work with PMO to design and implement the appropriate OCM strategy and plan for assigned projects.
- Internal Process Improvement
- Development and continuous improvement of project execution framework and tools.
- Identify possible skill gaps within the BITS PMO and project delivery teams and work with Manager BITS PMO to implement improvements.
- Coaching and mentorship of BITS Team members and Project Managers within the business on Project Management and Change Management tools and processes to increase internal capability and capacity.
- Building relationships of trust with internal customers and 3rd party project resources by demonstrating empathy and executing value-added solutions.
- Participate and provide input into Team, Department and Corporate strategy as applicable.
Qualifications/Competencies:
The individual in this role will have:
- Post-secondary education in a related field and a minimum of five (5) years of related work experience
- Experience managing technology projects of scale from inception to closure.
- Thorough understanding of business process mapping, modelling, and reengineering.
- Good understanding of core business functions, including operations, finance, supply chain, human resources, information technology and strategy.
- High degree of analytical and logical problem-solving skills.
- Experience and strength in managing dynamic stakeholder groups and complex business scenarios and driving synchronization between competing initiatives.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and experience working in high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Leadership, mentorship, and people development.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships of trust.
The following are considered assets in this role:
- Technical background in software development
- Experience in agile project management framework
- Project management experience with custom-developed solutions
- PMP certification
- Ability to travel to field location as required.
