Temporary Full-Time, Non-Unionized Position
35 hours per week (10-month Position)
Timmins, ON

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Supervisor of Mental Health and Well-being and the Superintendent of Education, the Mental Health Worker will work within a school community to enhance the mental health and well-being of students, with a goal of ensuring equitable access to service. The successful candidate will provide direct mental health services to students and work collaboratively with youth, families, educators, and school administrators to advocate for mental health awareness and facilitate related learning opportunities.
This position will focus primarily on supporting students in grades 9-12 and will require the successful candidate to work directly within the school and also within the community, as required, to liase with family members and community partners.
MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post secondary education in social work or related field, with relevant experience. *Bachelor or Masters Degree preferred.
- Current Certificate of Registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers or the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated skills in the performance of a therapeutic role including assessment, counseling, case management, crisis intervention and advocacy skills;
- Experience in working with youth at risk, including being able to assess for risk, and developing safety plans;
- Related experience working with First Nations, Metis and Inuit youth;
- Comprehensive understanding of Indigenous culture and of the challenges faced by Indigenous youth;
- Experience working with multidisciplinary teams in a collaborative capacity to support youth and their families;
- Ability to use technology related to this position;
- Excellent initiative, organizational and time management skills; and
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal.
The Applicant must possess a valid driver’s license as travel may be required.
