Job Description Job Summary:Come work as a Supportive Housing Worker with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Supportive Housing Worker with a Social Services Diploma OR a Certificate from a Health Care Worker Program to join the team at Robert & Lily Lee Community Health Centre. Apply today to join our team!As a Supportive Housing Worker focused in Youth Alcohol & Drug use you will:Work as part of an interdisciplinary team to match designated clients in appropriate housing.Assist an interdisciplinary team to conduct housing assessments that determine the appropriate housing model based on client’s needs, housing policies and best practices.Advocate for and provide assistance to clients to access and identify housing subsidies/income supports.Collaborate and share information for community resource coordination; and provide program information by responding to queries from external housing agencies and staff.Participate in in-services and team meetings and engage in ongoing program planning and quality improvement activities.Qualifications:Education & ExperienceGrade 12, Social Services Diploma or Certificate from a recognized Health Care Worker Program.Two (2) years recent, related experience in a mental health & substance use service setting providing housing support to clients who have a variety of mental disorders and substance use issues or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Knowledge & Abilities5,000 keystrokes per hour.Knowledge of the principles of recovery in mental illness.Ability to do mathematical and financial calculations.Knowledge of mental health, substance abuse and addiction disorders and treatment.Knowledge of community resources and their role in client care.Knowledge of legislation and government policies and procedures that relate to the client population.Demonstrated ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team and to maintain mutually respectful relationships with colleagues.Demonstrated ability to develop written material.Demonstrated ability to provide client-centered solutions from a systems perspective.Demonstrated ability to work in a community-based system.Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.Closing Statement:The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
