Reporting to the Patient Flow Manager, the Facility Resource Assistant supports the daily operations of the Patient Flow department coordinating patient movement both into and out of Yarmouth Regional Hospital in Yarmouth, Digby General Hospital in Digby, Soldier’s Memorial Hospital in Middleton, Annapolis Community Health Centre in Annapolis Royal, Valley Regional Hospital in Kentville and Roseway Hospital in Shelburne. Outside of regular office hours, the Facility Resource Assistant provides additional support with respect to urgent communications.
The Facility Resource Assistant ensures that the principles and practices that guide Nova Scotia Health such as the vision, mission, values, expected behaviours, the leadership philosophy, organizational health, population health, ethics, safety, quality, partnerships and interprofessional collaboration are integrated within the support that is provided by the work that they do and through the messages they deliver.
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
Graduate of a recognized office administration/secretarial program is required- Completion of a Medical Terminology course or equivalent
- Minimum three (3) years' experience in an administrative support position including previous experience in a hospital setting is required
- Clerical experience related to bed allocation and patient booking is preferred
- Ability to use Microsoft Windows and all components of Microsoft Office; expertise with the development and maintenance of documents, spreadsheets and databases
- Knowledge of and expertise in the use of the Medworxx Patient Flow System preferred
- Typing speed of 60 words per minute preferred
- Current knowledge of medical terminology
- Demonstrated planning, organizing, prioritizing and time management skills
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills including ability to work as a team member and ability to foster collaborative relationships
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning and professional development
- Commitment to promoting a culture that supports safety, ethical practices and organizational health
- Valid Nova Scotia Driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle as travel may be required
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

- The base site for this position is Yarmouth Regional Hospital in Yarmouth; however, the successful candidate may be required to work at any of the following sites, as operationally required: Digby General Hospital in Digby, Soldier’s Memorial Hospital in Middleton, Annapolis Community Health Centre in Annapolis Royal and Roseway Hospital in Shelburne
$21.80 – $24.39 hourly
