Osler is currently recruiting a Marketing Specialist in our Toronto office. The Marketing Specialist will be a member of the national Client Development & Marketing team and will be responsible for managing and supporting the Firm’s award, ranking and directory processes as well as other communication and marketing activities. The successful candidate will help enhance the reputation of the firm, our practices and our lawyers through legal directories and awards by tracking deadlines and deliverables, maintaining an annual calendar, drafting submissions, and serving as the main point person for researchers and Osler professionals.
Major Responsibilities
- Create and maintain a firmwide directory, award and profiles calendar and regularly communicate all dates to internal stakeholders
- Develop strong working relationships with key contacts at major directory and awards organizations to promote the Osler brand and our lawyers
- Manage the submission process for directory and award submissions for various industry publications such as Chambers, IFLR, Legal 500, CGCA, Lexpert, etc.
- Ensure timely completion and submission of all relevant submissions and related references
- Create comprehensive reports and analyses for our directory and award results
- Provide training to team members on the directory process and best practices
- Provide strategic advice to lawyers and colleagues regarding market recognition activities
- Work closely with our marketing team to effectively communicate ranking and award results
- Create best practice templates and process documents for all legal directory submissions and award nominations
- Oversee the logistics and scheduling for research interviews between lawyers and directories and compile all preparatory materials in advance of directory interviews
- Manage the directory referee process and communicate with lawyers and Business Development leads as appropriate
- Provide marketing and communications support for other projects including key thought leadership publications and reports
- Other duties as assigned
Position Requirements:
Education and Experience
University degree (preferably in Business or Marketing), or relevant work experience, with a desired 3-5 years of experience in the legal or professional services industry. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be acceptable.
Knowledge and Skills
- Excellent written, oral communication, and interpersonal skills
- Strong project management competencies
- Must have demonstrable, skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Extremely well organized with superb attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities and respond to requests from a wide range of stakeholders
- Self-starter who is able to handle a demanding, fast-paced environment
- Solid knowledge of a professional services/corporate environment an advantage
- Ability to effectively coordinate a collection of information and data from multiple sources
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize and manage time effectively
- Ability to interact appropriately with all levels within the organization
