Purpose:
York University's School of Continuing Studies is one of the fastest-growing continuing education providers in the country. With a commitment to lifelong learning and access to education, the school offers non-degree certificate programs, language training, and degree preparation opportunities. The school is composed of a dynamic Continuing Professional Education (CPE) unit that develops innovative certificate programs that prepare professionals to thrive in the rapidly changing world of work. It is also home the York University English Language Institute (YUELI) - the largest public English language institute in Canada.Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the Marketing Specialist is responsible for the development and implementation of comprehensive and innovative marketing and promotional plans that drive new enrolment and repeat sales in order to achieve revenue growth targets. The position ensures the successful delivery of marketing and promotional activities by identifying timelines and collateral required.In addition to overseeing the marketing for a portfolio of CPE programs, the Marketing Specialist will also provide support to the English Language Institute and contribute to marketing projects that support the strategic goals of the school.
Education:
University degree in marketing, communications, advertising, or related field required or an equivalent of 4 years recent experience (defined as within the last five years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below. Certificate in advertising, marketing, copywriting, graphic design or related is an asset.
Experience:
At least two years in a dedicated marketing, communications, or advertising role.
Skills:
Demonstrated Technical Skills in the following:
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), working knowledge of Adobe products including Illustrator, Photoshop, and email software (i.e., Outlook)
Proficiency with on-line database including entering information, running reports, editing data
Customer Relationship Management Systems, marketing automation, social media platforms and its use in a marketing context
Strong research and analytical skills including the ability to gather information and provide stats and reportsDemonstrated skills and abilities in the following:
