The Opportunity
OpenText is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer who will be responsible for the design, development, and management of the OpenText commercial-wide area network. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in managing a dynamic global network in a 24x7 support model. This position requires a strong understanding of all aspects of a highly converged network with a focus on a global WAN. The role also entails strong communications and reporting experience with a focus to meet OpenText global customers by addressing complex problems in a timely manner with a professional attitude.
You Are Great At
- Business requirements analysis as related to aspects of unified communications, network, and network security
- Design and implementation of data communications architectures including integration of applications, data, and other infrastructure architectures.
- Identify operational weaknesses within the existing network infrastructure and present execution plans to overcome those concerns in a timely fashion while still making the most cost-efficient use of resources.
- Work to complete all projects assigned and exhaust all possible resources to provide results on time, within specifications, and on budget
- Actively monitor and react to real-time network conditions and make recommendations on improving monitoring and reporting.
- Document IT activities such as incidents and system changes with regular participation in change control activities
- Regularly interact with team members to assist in troubleshooting and transfer of knowledge in an effort to cross-pollinate others with the required knowledge to effectively support.
- Leverage both proven and innovative technology approaches to solve challenging business problems
- Must have a positive attitude while participating in after-hour and weekend network maintenance.
What It Takes
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or related; equivalent related technical experience may be considered in lieu of degree
- 10+ years’ experience with a variety of WAN routing, security, and global load balancer, protocols, equipment, concepts, and architectures.
- CCIE or equivalent certification highly preferred
- Experience with WAN, Knowledge of service provider MPLS and Internet VPN.
- Advanced troubleshooting and debugging skills. Usage of Wireshark packet captures.
- A solid understanding of IP networking including addressing, behavior, and performance including DMVPN, IPSEC/GRE, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP
- Experience with configuration and maintenance of network equipment from multiple vendors, including Cisco
- Highly available data center network architecture and design (Spine and Leaf)
- Highly available wide-area networking architecture and design
- Experience with applying network and application acceleration and network load balancing to services
- Knowledge and experience deploying and maintaining network QoS on local and wide area networks.
- Experience with IP network security technologies including network firewalls, application proxies, intrusion detection and prevention, and network access control
- Experience with enterprise network management systems and protocols such as SNMP including system containers and VM’s.
- Understanding and experience with distributed role-based access control systems as applied to network infrastructure
- Ability to program in an administrative scripting language Perl, Python, and/or Ansible.
- Working with a global team distributed across multiple locations, strong written and spoken communication skills are a requirement.
- Ability to solve problems quickly and automate processes
