Fraser Health

Job Description

Why Fraser Health?:Fraser Health invites you to join an innovative and unique primary health care team in one of Canada’s fastest growing and culturally diverse communities! We are currently recruiting Nurse Practitioners to provide comprehensive, integrated, and trauma-informed care at our Metrotown Urgent and Primary Care Centre (UPCC) located in Burnaby, B.C. Burnaby is recognized as one of the Lower Mainland’s most attractive suburbs and is known for its schools, lakes, and mountains.
Our UPCC site is dedicated to delivering timely, person-centred, culturally safe, trauma informed longitudinal and urgent primary care in Burnaby. This position is available as urgent care only, or as a mixture of urgent and longitudinal care. Our model of care offers holistic team-based care by supporting family physicians and nurse practitioners with allied health professionals including nurses, clinical counsellors, social workers, pharmacists and administrative staff. Together this team will extend continuous care that will be intentional and coordinated to all members of the community, including the vulnerable and medically complex.
This is a great opportunity for a new Nurse Practitioner to join a well supported fellowship program to help consolidate clinical skills. Be part of our clinical enhancement program with regular in house skills development such as suturing and x-ray interpretation in addition to receiving centralized NP orientation. You will be welcomed into a New Graduate NP Community of Practice team helping to support your successful transition into independent practice.

This position will also have a new and exciting post graduate up to 6 month nurse practitioner residency program. FH is the first health authority to implement a formal residency program for NPs in the province, which will be key to supporting the development of NPs and practice-readiness in select programs. You will receive in depth in house advanced training within a clinical area relevant to the position, improve your team collaboration and develop a model of patient centred care. This is your opportunity to consolidate your nurse practitioner education with a team helping to support your successful transition into independent practice.

During your residency, you’ll receive:
