NURSE PRACTITIONER CLINIC
Nurse Practitioner
Location: Edmonton, Alberta
Number of Positions: 6-8
FTE: 5.0 FTE - full and part-time positions
Vision: The River Stone (RS) Nurse Practitioner Clinic’s (NP Clinic) vision is to create a client-centered primary care clinic which includes an interdisciplinary team of Nurse Practitioners (NPs), and other healthcare and administrative professionals – offering care to clients of all ages.
The RS NP Clinic supports NPs, other healthcare, and administrative professionals in delivering high quality, coordinated care with the aim of enhancing the client care experience within a community care setting. As well, the RS NP Clinic ensures enhanced capacity for their care team to work in a positive, hopeful environment which provides their clients and themselves with the opportunity to optimize health, quality of life, and well-being.
The RS NP Clinic supports the following professional objectives: increase the proportion of clients with ready access to primary care in a community setting; provide coordinated and increased access to appropriate primary care services; increase the emphasis on health promotion, disease and injury prevention, and care of the medically complex client who is considering or requiring enhanced support; improve coordination and integration with other health and community care services to enhance and better support the primary care client throughout their care trajectory; and facilitate the greater use of interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care.

Position: The RS NP Clinic seeks experienced, highly driven, organized, and enthusiastic NPs (family/all ages) to work as key members of our interdisciplinary team of NPs and other healthcare and administrative professionals. Following are further details regarding the practice opportunity so you can determine whether this opportunity is right for you:
- The RS NP Clinic requires up to 5.0 FTE full and/or part time positions (1.0 FTE = 35-40 hours per week). When operating at full capacity, the clinic is expected to be open Monday to Friday, 8am-9pm and Saturday to Sunday, 8am-3pm. It is the expectation that all NPs hired will collaborate and cover these shifts on a rotational basis within their designated FTE.
- Each NP client roster would be approximately 1500-2000 clients. The goal is for each NP to have no more than 20 appointments per day on average to enable them to deliver the highest quality medical care possible, with ample time for team collaboration and opportunity to grow their practice
- All NPs will work independently as a part of an interdisciplinary team who reports individually and collectively to the RS NP Clinic Manager
- All NPs will be supported with a shared full-time Medical Office Assistant (MOA) and a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- All NPs will be rostered with the Edmonton Southside Primary Care Network and as such will have access to additional supports for RS NP Clinic clients and to enhance the NP practice
- The RS NP Clinic is fully outfitted with large and accommodating assessment rooms and furniture, as well as contemporary and up-to-date equipment and supplies
- The RS NP Clinic is fully computerized and has an information technology professional to assist you where needed.
- NPs will be provided access to a highly secure and provincially recognized EMR system and have access to standardized templates to assist with accurate and concise documentation and secure information archiving

Qualifications:
- Candidates must be registered or eligible with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA); and Nurse Practitioner certification – family/all ages.
Specific Skills:
- Desire to provide collaborative care as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Examine clients and take their histories, order laboratory tests, X-rays, and other diagnostic procedures
- Consult with other medical practitioners to evaluate clients' health
- Prescribe and administer medications and treatments
- Advise clients on health care
- Report births, deaths, contagious and other diseases
- Communicate health promotion/disease prevention to clients
- Perform client advocacy role
- Manage client care and actively collaborate with a team of inter-professionals; and
- Work to full scope of NP practice as per The College of Registered Nurses of Alberta Scope of Practice for Nurse Practitioners.
