The Sr. Manager, Pharmacy Operations is responsible for overseeing the execution of all operational aspects of the Ontario McKesson Specialty Pharmacy Provide metric based updates to Supervisor at regularly scheduled intervals to ensure operational success Staff orientation and ongoing training
Specific Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, mentoring, supervision, and oversight for assigned department and pharmacy functions
- Responsibility and oversight of operations including implementing departmental initiatives, key financial activities (e.g Accounts Receivable), tracking and reporting on departmental KPIs and SLAs
- Manage operations, resources and ensure efficiencies as required to maintain customer satisfaction
- Develop, implement and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to ensure all expectations are followed to meet SOX compliance and meet the specific needs of all product inventories, and manufacturer fulfillment/shipping requirements
- Manage data to ensure efficiency, good productivity and avoid duplication of efforts, etc.
- Responsible for providing employees with timely, candid and constructive feedback; developing employees to their full potential and providing challenging opportunities that enhance employee career growth; developing the appropriate talent pool to ensure adequate bench strength and succession planning; recognizing and rewarding employees for accomplishments
- Hiring, disciplinary and termination duties of personnel
- Regular auditing and review of Supervisor and Pharmacy Coordinator performance and reviews
- Implement training programs as needed to ensure the development of personnel
- Coordinate Monthly pharmacy inventories
- Coordinate and assist with internal and external audits
- Manage daily operation of pharmacy department including staffing, inventory and scheduling
- Personnel orientation and ongoing training
- Providing general customer service for patients and handle escalated concerns
- Ongoing communication and contact with staff on goals, objectives and pharmacy activities
- Manage financial responsibilities in collaboration with senior management
- Adherence to standards of care governed by the Ontario College of Pharmacists
- Adherence to standards of care governed by the applicable College of Pharmacists and meet the GXP requirements as required
General Responsibilities
- Manage staff, including performance reviews, disciplinary reviews
- Manage all staff responsibilities as set out by the applicable provincial College of Pharmacists, including but not limited to; prescription counseling, checking, patient reviews
- Ensure pharmacy meets all requirements set forth for narcotic and controlled substances
- Ensure staffing is adequate to maximize pharmacy productivity
- Manage staff holidays and coverage within pharmacy
- Provide coverage within pharmacy department for dispensing and counseling as needed
Minimum Requirement:
- Degree or equivalent experience. Typically requires 9+ years of professional experience and 1+ years of supervisory and/or management experience
- Experience in pharmacy or related field
- Previous hospital, retail, or specialty pharmacy experience preferred
- This position requires a significant degree of self-starting and independence
- Operational experience and demonstrated leadership skills preferred
- Complete understanding of retail pharmacy practice, including understanding of biologics and specialty medications
- Understanding management roles and ensuring productivity through motivation of personnel
- Ability to express ideas clearly both written and oral communications
- Detail oriented with strong organizational and multi-task abilities

As part of Total Rewards, we are proud to offer a competitive compensation package at McKesson. This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.
Our Base Pay Range for this position
$92,900 - $154,800
