Farm Business & Operations Manager,
Osgoode Farms:
At Osgoode Farms Limited we aim to use top tier technology, and agronomy, to maximize our output and minimize our environmental impact by being a leader in precision farming practices.
We work with our partners in equipment, nutrients, and agronomy to maximize our crop yields with the least input resources possible. This strategy is executed by having the best technology using GPS data, crop output heatmaps, precision variable rate capable equipment, and strip till or no till farming practices.
In addition to the farming, we also have a host of side operations focused on carbon capture and soil amendment for the benefit of farming activities.

About the Job:
We are seeking a Manager to oversee our Farm Operations near Osgoode, Ontario, that is passionate about advanced agriculture practices, precision farming, leading people and farm management in a fast-paced team environment. You will be responsible for the planning and execution of farm and related activities relating to admin, staffing and production at our Osgoode location while ensuring our high standards in health and safety are maintained.
Your Accountabilities:
- Overseeing and managing the operations of the farm to ensure the smooth functioning of the farm and the achievement of maximized production.
- Supervise the operation including, executing accounting with our accounting service provider, manage operations teams, production activity planning, inventory control, maintenance planning, and HR functions. Learn by doing, including hands-on work with plants and equipment.
- Cost coding, tracking, vendor management, supplier account setup, RRSP and benefits administration.
- Hiring, developing and coaching your team. Guiding and supporting the Operations team with all seasonal hiring and training needs.
- Work with the Operations Supervisor to ensure the plan is executed, including scheduling, coaching, and monitoring daily safety, quality, and execution of projects.
- Assist with budget process and provide cost analysis, labour forecasts and other reports on a monthly basis.
- Working with ownership to challenge our existing processes, and then find, test, and implement new ways to reduce scrap and improve efficiency.
- Contribute to a safe work environment for all employees through active observations, hazard reporting, coaching on relevant health and safety best practices, and leading by example while ensuring all employees are adhering to company policies and guideline.
- Assist with other duties and projects as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong and compassionate leader that drives results, motivates employees, and ensures accountability while aiming to exceed expectations.
- Previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing or horticultural/agricultural environment.
- Familiarity with budgeting, accounting, forecasting, grain selling and general financial management.
- Familiarity with equipment including tractors, farm implements, construction equipment, trucks and trailers an asset.
- High standard of professionalism with excellent communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple demands, setting priorities, making decisions, and exercising best judgment.
- Resourceful and self-directed with the ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve goals.
- Ability to adapt and prioritize multiple tasks and situations with effective time management skills.
- Continuous improvement mindset – seeks ways to optimize processes, eliminate waste and streamline operations. Experience in Lean, Six Sigma is an asset.
- Proficient in the MS Office Suite programs, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- You are punctual and dependable, and highly value honesty, integrity, and authenticity.
- Valid class G Ontario driver’s license.
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts including some evening, weekends, and holidays as seasonal peaks require.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada

Salary: $70,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
