Summary:
The Associate Director, Operational Excellence, Early Phase Clinical Development, is responsible to support and manage operational activities of Early Phase (EP) Clinical Development Business Unit (BU) across functions and regions internally within the BU. Provides coordination and management of Process(es), Systems and Training activities as a BU Liaison to other BUs and Functional areas within the organization. Assists leadership to support the strategic and operational level planning through effective participation in continuous process improvement programs. May include line management responsibilities for relevant/assigned staff within the BU.
Job responsibilities
- Assists leadership in process improvement, operational efficiencies, and operational excellence by identifying best practices and continuous improvement within the EP Clinical Development BU
- Acts as a Point of Contact for Controlled Documents (CD)/processes for the EP Clinical Development BU
- Acts as a Point of Contact for Systems to be utilized for the EP Clinical Development BU,
- Develops and maintains a strong collaboration with internal cross functional teams to ensure alignment of priorities and responsibilities.
- Supports the BU in discussions and decision making involving day-to-day operational decisions guided by policies, procedures, and business plans, responsible for including but not limited to providing guidance, determining, and managing the most effective communication channels.
- Implements global project management systems and processes to increase efficiency, as directed.
- Assists leadership in performance improvement, operational efficiencies, and operational excellence by identifying best practices and ideas for innovation and continuous improvement within Project Management.
- May develop and refine project management processes within the Company, using established process modeling techniques. May review or provide input into the development of SOPs and WIs related to any area concerning project management to support new or existing processes. Implements enterprise wide project management systems and tools.
- Within the business unit, works with and advises staff on administrative policies and procedures, technical problems, priorities and methods management disciplines and approaches within a fast-paced, high tech environment
- Act as a reference point for queries and information and an advocate for best practices in project management
- Support Change Management, including adjustments based on emerging business or technical opportunities and challenges
Qualifications
What we’re looking for
- BA/BS in the life sciences, nursing degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience and extensive progressive management experience preferably in a worldwide clinical research, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology company..
- Comprehensive management skills and experience, including but not limited to short and long-term planning, evaluation, directing and motivating staff, marketing and financial management.
- Thorough knowledge of FDA regulations, drug development, and clinical project management procedures is necessary.
- Strong ability to manage time and work independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal skills, both written and spoken, with an ability to inform, influence, convinces, and persuade.
- High proficiency with full MS Office Applications, including MS Project.
- Direct therapeutic area expertise is preferred.
- Ability to travel as necessary (approximately 25%).

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $87,570 to $170,300 USD The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high of the Syneos Health range for this position. Actual salary will vary based on various factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role.
