POSITION DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Operations Supervisor is responsible for ensuring smooth operations of our greenhouse by supervising and executing the daily operations plans. They will ensure the hydroponic growing systems, automatic harvester, packing line, and associated equipment are working and being maintained as scheduled as instructed by the Operations Manager. This role will also supervise a crew of labourers for seeding, harvesting, packaging, and shipping activities.
DUTIES
Performs day-to-day activities; this includes but is not limited to:
- Coordinates contracted labourers for seeding, harvesting, packaging activities per Operations Manager direction
- Perform daily checks of equipment for the grow systems, seeding line, harvesting line, tray washer, and packing line
- Help manage shipping activities and inventory
- Perform trouble shooting and fixing of equipment as needed
- Coordinate and assist with sanitation of equipment
- Providing overall support, supervision, and coaching to the Operations Team
- Helps develop and ensure compliance to SOPs and operational procedures by labourers
- Maintains and ensures a safe working environment in the and greenhouse
- Coordinate a team of labourers, cleaning crew, and other operational staff
- Perform scheduled service/maintenance of equipment as directed by the Operations Manager
- Ensures documentation and certification is maintained and up-to-date
- Uses ERP and other operational software as relating to duties
- Communicates plans, actions, safety risks, and issues within the Operations Team and inter-departmentally
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships
- Other duties as instructed
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Ability to perform multiple tasks under specific timelines
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
- Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing
- Ability to lift up to 25lbs
AN IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE
- 2 years of experience working in plant operations, food production and distribution, distribution and packing, or other relevant industries
- 2 years of equipment and machine operations or maintenance experience
- Experience leading, motivating, and coaching teams, preferably in an operational setting preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Excel, Word Outlook, etc.)
- Must have a valid Class 5 B.C. driver’s license
WORK CONDITIONS
- 8:00am – 4:30pm, Monday to Friday
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions
- May be requested to support the operations on-site outside of regular work hours (i.e., evenings, weekends) based on Production plans
- Use of personal vehicle may be required
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: $52,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
