The Creative Operations Leader will join a highly energetic and diverse team in a growing company creating purposeful and innovative content. They will lead a team of creative team leads (video editing, motion graphics, content and filming) and their team members.
The ideal candidate for this role is someone who takes their craft seriously, but not themselves! The Creative Operations Leader must be a servant leader who understands the creative process in order to ensure project quality and standards are met but must also appreciate the power of data in project management and people leadership.
In this role, you will report to the Director, Production & Operations and work closely with the creative services team leads as well as the Production Scheduler. As the Creative Operations Leader, your success will be measured on employee satisfaction and project and company/departmental operational quantitative and qualitative metrics.
Leadership (50-75%):
- Provide direction and oversight to the Creative Services team, removing escalated barriers, coaching through issues/conflicts
- Participate on the leadership team to facilitate teams’ development while achieving the goals and overall success of the organization
- Attract and hire creative services team members and leads with exceptional talent and character
- Onboard new team members and provide ongoing training and career development opportunities for team leads
- Manage your team’s performance by providing valuable, constructive feedback through regular touchpoints and annual reviews
- Owns productivity and team standards, enforces company policies
- Payworks and timesheet management
- Be an advocate for your bees in the hive by looking for ways to support your team, culture, solutions, and value we provide to all stakeholders
- Foster environment of accountability for the project, for the client, for the business
- Provide support to leads to train on leadership skills, company policies and best practices
- Foster a culture of personal ownership, innovation and continual improvement.
Operations (25-50%):
- Project & Workflow Management - Maintain Scorecard data dashboard
- o Evolve and maintain the creative services scorecard by assessing data requirements by department and team
- o Monitor weekly reporting of all projects to ensure project profitability (timelines, scope management, budgeting, resourcing, etc.)
- o Workflow management
- Support departmental workforce forecasting using data and adjusted trend analysis.
- Identify bottlenecks in long-range forecasting for production workflow and develop action plans.
- o Own workflows, continuously improving processes for efficiency and quality.
- o Assessment and oversight of creative services tools and technology needs - collaborate to source new solutions as needed, which align with overall business needs.
- Inspection and quality assurance of WorkerBee.TV products including but not limited to video products, digital products, and services such as content planning/strategy.
- Contractors - manage a database of contractors, relationship management (agreements, coordination of projects, etc)
- Alongside other departments, such as sales & marketing, account management, and docu-series, lead or participate in cross-functional teams to deliver on broader company goals and objectives.
- Other duties as assigned.
Attitudes, skills, experience, and characteristics that are required to support your success in this role will include, but are not limited to the following:
- 8+ years industry experience
- 3+ years of leadership experience
- Degree or diploma in Creative Communications / Broadcasting / Media Production / Communications / Video Production, or equivalent industry experience
- Able to build and maintain trust-based relationships. Understands the importance of hiring, retaining and developing a strong team
- Embodies servant leader qualities; authenticity, humility, compassion, accountability, courage, selflessness, integrity, listening
- Tech savvy - able to utilize tools such as Robohead project management, Adobe Creative Suite, file systems, etc.
- Able to make informed decisions to align team’s activities with the business strategy.
- Able to influence others to translate vision into action within the Creative Services department
