You'll be working in a dynamic organization, in close collaboration with the Human Resources department and the various departments across Canada. As a payroll and accounting technician, you'll be responsible for the payroll process for around 500 operational and administrative employees, along with another colleague, as well as some accounting-related projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the supervision of the Director, Talent and Culture, you will be responsible for providing payroll processing expertise and administrative support to the Human Resources team for talent management and corporate culture.
Accounting
- Calculate, update and track various banks (vacation, sick, etc.) and ensure their integrity in the payroll system;
- Perform all month-end activities required for payroll, including weekly journal entries;
- Generate and prepare payroll reports.
Payroll
- Complete employee payroll processing (approximately 500 employees);
- Process source deductions, taxable benefits and other deductions and remittances;
- Administer employee benefits, vacations, RRSPs, pension funds, etc.;
- Be available to answer questions from employees and managers in both English and French;
- Communicate and manage problem resolution with the payroll supplier in a diligent and proactive manner and act as super-user;
- Implement work tools to optimize processes;
- Research, present and process various subsidy files (training, internship, salary, etc.).
TRAINING AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
- Diploma in accounting, administration or related field;
- Minimum of three (3) years' relevant experience in payroll preparation in different Canadian provinces and with different types of profiles (schedules, employees, etc.);
- Or equivalent work/study combination
- Asset: experience working with collective agreements.
SKILLS REQUIRED
- Excellent attention to detail to ensure accuracy and thoroughness of work.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills;
- Good oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write and verbally communicate with a variety of audiences.
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and collaborate with colleagues at different levels.
- Ability to prioritize competing demands in order to organize and manage multiple projects/activities effectively and efficiently, while meeting deadlines.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite and familiarity with payroll-related systems and technologies (asset: ADP Workforce Now, ADP Time and Attendance).
HIRING REQUIREMENTS
- Bilingualism is nice-to have, writing and oral communication skills in both French and English is a strong asset;
- Up-to-date knowledge of current tax and Canadian payroll laws and regulations;
- Able to work in a hybrid remote set up in our Winnipeg facility
