Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Piping Field Engineer to join our team for the Edmonton Multiyear construction project. As a Senior Piping Field Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the piping systems on the project site. This includes ensuring the safe and efficient installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the piping systems in accordance with industry standards and project specifications. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical and instrumentation (E&I) systems and possess expertise in project turnover processes.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise a team of piping engineers, designers, and field personnel to ensure the successful execution of piping activities on-site.
- Develop and implement piping engineering and construction strategies, ensuring compliance with project plans, specifications, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with the project management team to define project objectives, milestones, and deliverables related to piping systems.
- Provide technical guidance and support to the construction team regarding piping materials, installation methods, and fabrication techniques.
- Conduct regular inspections and quality control checks to ensure compliance with design specifications, codes, and safety regulations.
- Review and approve piping-related documents, including drawings, procedures, and specifications.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation, to ensure proper integration of piping systems within the overall project scope.
- Liaise with vendors and suppliers to procure materials and equipment for piping construction activities, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
- Participate in project meetings and provide regular progress reports to the project management team.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and other team members.
- Assist in the project turnover process, ensuring all necessary documentation, inspections, and tests are completed for successful system handover.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience (minimum 8 years) as a Piping Engineer, with a focus on field engineering and construction activities.
- Strong knowledge of piping systems, including design, fabrication, installation, and maintenance.
- Expertise in electrical and instrumentation (E&I) systems, with a solid understanding of their integration with piping systems.
- Experience in project turnover processes, including documentation, inspections, and testing.
- Proficient in using piping design and engineering software, such as AutoCAD, Revit, or equivalent.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor and guide junior engineers and field personnel.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with project stakeholders, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Knowledge of industry codes and standards, including ASME, API, and CSA.
- Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental regulations related to piping construction.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic project environment.
- Willingness to travel to the project site and work in a field-based role.
