The City of Abbotsford’s Recreation & Culture division is looking for a dynamic, self-motivated professional with proven leadership and programming skills to join their dynamic team as a full-time Recreation Programmer.
In this exciting role, you are responsible for developing, leading, supervising and evaluating a wide variety of recreation services, programs and events for all participants. Creativity and marketing skills are essential as you promote interest and participation in program activities. Strong leadership and supervisory skills are essential as you help select, empower, train, mentor and evaluate a team of recreation staff. Your ability to build and maintain strong relationships will make you an asset to the team as you liaise with community groups, school officials and other stakeholders.
Your excellent communication, organizational, administrative and critical thinking skills and abilities, combined with a strong commitment to customer service excellence will guide your success in this position.
To be considered for this position, you must have:
Post-secondary diploma in a related discipline.
Two years’ experience in recreation program development including six months of experience in community recreation.
One-year supervisory experience.
Occupational First Aid Level 1.
CPR Level C Certification.
Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence.
This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $30.86 to $36.28 per hour. Please note shift work is required, including evenings & weekends.
