Parsons is hiring a Sr. Project Controls Scheduling Specialist/Engineer to our team to support Transportation/construction projects in Canada, including the Edmonton Valley Line West LRT in Edmonton Alberta. We would be looking for a person to relocate or live in/near Edmonton.
The Edmonton Valley Line West LRT project is a 14-km long line extension of the soon to be in service Valley Line in downtown Edmonton, Alberta. The scope of work generally includes complex staging; new facilities such as stations, OMSF, storage facility, and stops; elevated guideway; new structures; systems and communications installation; trackwork; testing and commissioning; and all other civil works associated with the scope. It is an LRT extension project using low-floor vehicle technology in Western Canada and will be a landmark LRT endeavour after the 5-year construction term. The unique project challenges, such as cold weather climate and integration with an in-service LRT line, offers team members future career opportunities in the robust transit portfolio of the City of Edmonton and other similar programs across Canada.
POSITION OVERVIEW :
Develops, implements, provides and maintains a planning/scheduling function on one or more larger projects. The Project Control Scheduling Engineer/Specialist at this level is a fully qualified professional with solid experience, technical expertise, and familiarity with company policies and procedures to complete complicated tasks independently.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Execute schedule project control plans in support of contractual requirements.
- Ensure compliance with established WBS (Work Breakdown Structures)
- Support the preparation of project reference schedules in collaboration with the team.
- Ensure follow-up and integration of schedule changes once approved.
- Record all schedule project-related changes, and follow up on approvals.
- Document progress in cash flow curves, labor utilization curves, etc.
- Monitor progress to verify if they reflect the planned value.
- Prepare various types of reports on project progress, based on established requirements in terms of content and presentation.
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
4-year degree in Engineering or Construction Management or related field (or equivalent work experience)
Minimum of 5+ years of related project controls/scheduling experience in complex, large Civil construction projects.
Must be proficient with Primavera P6, and ideally, experience with Linear Scheduling.
Must have experience developing complex, resource-loaded schedules for Civil Engineering projects. Experience with Rail/Transit project scheduling, highly desired.
