Pauktuutit Inuit Women of Canada (Pauktuutit) is the national representative organization of Inuit women in Canada. Our mission is to foster a greater awareness of the needs of Inuit women and create change to advance women’s full social, economic, and cultural participation in communities in Inuit Nunangat, as well as cities across Canada where Inuit live. Pauktuutit, as the national voice of Inuit women in Canada, has a key role to play in ensuring a gender-equality lens in policies impacting Inuit Women and in promoting greater progress in priority areas for Inuit women and children, across health and well-being, violence, and abuse prevention - safety, and socio-economic development. We are seeking a skilled individual to fill the role of Project Coordinator with a focus on Social and Economic development. Under the direction of the Manager, Projects, the Project Coordinator maintains current subject matter knowledge as well as relevant government funding programs and other sources of financial support. An excellent communicator with strong writing skills, the Project Coordinator can identify relevant projects of benefit to Inuit women and identify appropriate potential funders for projects.
As an ideal candidate, you are an engaging, self-motivated team player with exceptional communication skills. You have knowledge and experience of the North and share our deep commitment to advocating for, and supporting, Inuit women and their families.
- Support Social and Economic Development activities to stimulate opportunity for Inuit women.
- Assist with the coordination and implementation of project activities including document translations, resource material production and project deliverables.
- Develop and maintain advisory committees, including planning and coordinating teleconferences and meetings.
- Plan and/or facilitate workshops or meetings.
- Implement projects in accordance with the community and funding conditions in contribution agreements with funders.
- Maintain an overview of community-based regional and national development in abuse prevention issues for Inuit women.
- Provide regular project updates and briefings to the Manager/Director of Programs.
- Occasionally edit/proofread/review material for other staff and related projects.
- Assist with liaising with national, regional Inuit organization and other agencies for the continued operation of the program.
- Provide internal and external consultation with Inuit organization as required.
- Build and sustain partnerships and relationships with other Inuit organizations, communities, and services.
- Contribute to the development of Employment and Social Development programs, and services.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of programs that help Inuit women across the life span in school, work, and transitions such as changing jobs, employment, and unemployment and from the workforce to retirement.
- Assist with planning and/or facilitating workshops, meetings; work plan logistics/travel, etc.; travel to meetings or conferences when required.
- Assist with the development of meeting materials such as agendas, background materials and related matters.
Required Qualifications:
Language Requirement: English essential; Inuktut highly desirable
- Post-Secondary education in community development, sociology, gender studies, or other relevant subject or equivalent combination of education and experience working on issues impacting Inuit.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working within an organization focused on advocating, developing policy or programs focused on enabling women and/or Inuit.
- Knowledge of government systems with regards to funding, grants, and contributions
- Awareness of Inuit culture, social and economic conditions
- Collaborator, focused on mobilizing and leveraging capacities and interests towards project outcomes.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, to prepare and present complex research analyses, evidence-based decision-making results, policy reports, speeches, and briefing notes.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products is essential.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Knowledge of current political and health, violence and abuse prevention, and socio-economic issues of Inuit highly desirable.
- Spoken and written Inuktut language is desirable.
