Job Description
Melewka Structures & Design is looking for full-time student project coordinator to join our commercial construction team in the Athabasca area.
JOB SUMMARY
The Project Coordinator under the supervision of the Project Manager, follows through on all aspects of the project delivery such as corresponding with engineers, site superintendents, contractors, resolving issues, scheduling shipments and install, etc.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
To provide some idea of the tasks you may be performing, a list of responsibilities may include:
- Maintain digital project files with drawings, specs, purchase orders as changes are made.
- Assist with preparation and execution of overall work plan and schedule by developing and maintain weekly schedule.
- Track and document labor needed for completion of current and upcoming projects.
- Maintain hard copy job files. Create records of job progress or changes.
- Work with PM to create purchase orders for materials and labor needed to complete projects.
- Assist with change management by preparing cost estimates for change order and audit purposes.
- Work closely with site superintendents, project coordinators, project managers, subcontractors.
- Work with other divisions within the company to ensure all disciplines are being utilized.
- Mainly office work but site visits and inspections will be required.
Desired Skills and requirements
- Must have experience in the construction industry.
- Must be able to positively and effectively communicate and work with contractors, engineers, the public, and fellow employees.
- Should possess the ability to exhibit and practice strong team building, leadership, and project management skills.
- Must be able to work independently, and/or as a team.
- Strong literacy and numeracy skills are crucial for developing and presenting regular status reports including upcoming milestones, project accounting, progress reports, etc..
- Strong organizational and time management skills in order to prioritize work load and stay on top of things as the project demands increase.
- Should have in-depth understanding of the various disciplines involved in the construction process.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, a working knowledge of Microsoft Project and Auto Cad would be a considerable asset.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Be returning to school/postsecondary institution in the fall.
