Position: Project Coordinator
Project Name: Golden Connections – Seniors Involvement Program
Job Type: Part Time, 14.5 hours per week x 30 weeks
Duration: From August 2023 – March 31, 2024
Remuneration: $24/hr

Project Description
‘Golden Connections’ is a 20-Week empowerment program designed to engage older adults, expand their social connections, address their physical and mental wellness needs, and raise awareness of essential topics for maintaining independence. The program consists of weekly two-hour drop-in sessions comprising 30 minutes of fitness, 30 minutes of social interaction, and 60 minutes of educational workshops and discussions. Key topics covered include Aging Independently at Home & Personal Safety, Nutrition, Physical & Mental Health, Empowerment Through Art, and Technology Skills & Digital Awareness.
Responsibilities
The Golden Connections Project Coordinator is expected to:
● Provide leadership in planning and implementing project activities in collaboration with supervisor, program facilitator and evaluator.
● Develop the work plan for the project activities including ongoing monitoring of measurement indicators for the outcomes.
● Design promotional materials and outreach by using Canva and Photoshop. Circulate promotional materials widely through MailChimp and WhatsApp groups. Create social media content and post to various platforms including (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter). Reach out to seniors from different cultural backgrounds by e-mails, phone calls and other mediums. Represent the program through community outreach and public events.
● Manage the project administration work such as: design registration package, gather information, tabulate data, create participant attendance sheets and track numbers.
● Support the Program Facilitators in the development of the program curriculum and materials.
● Recruit and train volunteers and active participants to support program planning and delivery as needed.
● Assist in obtaining evaluation feedback from the participants from qualitative and quantitative perspectives during all project lifetimes.
● Involve and lead seniors and older adults in a weekly drop-in two-hour session that includes 30 min of fitness, 30 minutes of social time and 60 minutes of educational workshops and discussions for awareness building. Topics include Aging Independently at Home & Personal Safety, Nutrition, Physical & Mental Health, Empowerment Through Art, and Technology Skills & Digital Awareness.
● Comply with the organization’s rules and policies. Maintain a positive relationship with the management and other staff members.
Qualifications
To be considered for the role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as gerontology or social work disciplines.
● A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Project Coordinator in the non-profit sector. Extensive knowledge of the diverse communities of Peel, especially seniors and older adults from different ethno-cultural backgrounds.
● Wide knowledge of the available resources, organizations, networks, programs, and services pertaining to organizational development. Proven understanding of organizational development concept and practices.
● Valid First aid and CPR training.
● Strong motivational and empowerment abilities to recruit potential participants.
● Skilled in leading seniors online and in person group physical exercises and dialogues.
● Demonstrate online and in person educational workshop facilitation skills as well as group development skills.
● Fluent in speaking, reading and writing English. Knowledge of any other language(s) is an asset.
● Solid computer skills including Microsoft Office, Canva, Photoshop as well as Zoom and Microsoft Teams communication platforms.
● Wide knowledge of the available resources, programs and services pertaining to seniors and older adults within the diverse communities of Peel.
● Sympathetic and possesses an extensive understanding of best practices in delivering seniors programs and how to identify seniors that are most in need for extra support.
● Results oriented with excellent organizational, time management and problem-solving skills.
● Able to work independently and as a team player, work effectively with other service providers.
● Ability to work flexible hours during daytime, evening and weekend is a must.
