DESCRIPTION
The Senior Project Coordinator is responsible for working with the Project Management team to ensure that projects are being completed accurately and in a timely manner. The Senior Project managerwill be responsible for assisting with pre-construction activities including RFI and take offs, coordinating necessary materials for successful project completion and monitoring project progress. Critical to success are excellent oral and verbal communication skills, and the ability to quickly make decisions. This position is based out of our Nisku, AB office located in Nisku, AB with the ability to travel to various project sites across Canada.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct unsafe actions, situations, or conditions. Participate in incident reviews and change management campaigns for safety and technical improvements.
- Assist in the development and preparation of cost estimates, proposals, expressions of interest, pre-qualifications, and clarifications in collaboration with multidisciplinary technical groups such as estimators, technical writers, contract administrators, project managers and external business partners.
- Write and interpret construction execution plans, engineered drawings including creating and maintaining red line drawings.
- Prioritize schedules based on the extent of work required, urgency, and availability of resources.
- Maintain project tracking system and standardize project documents. Prepare and maintain detailed work reports indicating number of employees, job location, time spent on each job, and related information for administration and project records.
- Coordinates the ordering of travel, materials, tools, and equipment for assigned projects and authorizes requirements submitted by foremen

REQUIREMENTS
- 5+ years of experience in project coordination and project take offs
- 3-5 years of experience in estimating and bidding small and large projects
- Advanced computer skills MS Office, Google Earth Maps, SharePoint, and AutoCAD.
- Strong understanding of work methods and procedures in the repair and installation of over overhead and underground electrical powerlines (Transmission, Distribution, and Substation).
- A demonstrated understanding of the principles of electricity.
- Familiar with the operation and maintenance of equipment required for Transmission, Distribution, and Substation work.
- Must possess a valid driver license for the type(s) of vehicles which may be driven, and an acceptable driving record as determined by the Michels Canada review team.
- Ability to travel, which could be up to 50% of the role at times.
DESIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
- Successful completion of a registered Power Line Technician (PLT) apprenticeship training program and journeyperson status would be an asset.
- Experience with Heavy Bid and Primavera.
LANGUAGES
- Must be able to communicate verbally and through written language (by hand and digitally) in English.
