The Ministry of Highways is seeking a highly motivated individual with excellent interpersonal and leadership skills to join the Southern Region's Operation Section.
As Senior Project Manager of operations, your responsibilities will include:
- Supervising, directing, supporting and mentoring regional operations staff; including the project specialist and operations budget manager;
- Budget management, financial reporting, maintenance planning and support of Ministry business processes;
- Scheduling, preparing and administering regional maintenance contracts;
- Reviewing, analyzing and reporting on maintenance plans and progress, innovations, new processes and best practices;
- Assisting/supporting the district operations managers including the provincial pavement marking manager with various operational tasks; and
- Preparing and administering consultant commissions.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of Regional Operations, District Operations Managers and the Southern Region operations team. As a Senior Project Manager, you will support and act on behalf of the operations team at meetings, initiate changes in operation policies and lead or participate in Ministry task forces.
The successful candidate will have the following:
- An Engineering degree and eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer with APEGS;
- Experience and knowledge in highway maintenance and operations, asset management, design and construction;
- Working knowledge in project management principles, contract administration and contract law;
- General knowledge of accounting principles and financial management related to asset management, maintenance management, preservation planning and various types of partnership programs; and
- General knowledge of the Highway and Transportation Act.
