About the Pet Cancer Foundation
The Pet Cancer Foundation is a Vancouver-based organization whose vision is to increase the life expectancy and improve the quality of life of pets diagnosed with cancer. Estimates suggest that 12M dogs and cats are developing cancer every year, roughly 6x the number of humans getting cancer yearly within North America.
We need to do more for our furry friends, and we're building a large team of distributed, animal-loving passionate volunteers to help them and their families. Our team requires experienced senior-level project managers as we set out to translate our business strategy into technology solutions that will carry the organization forward in our mission. About the position:
As a volunteer Senior Project Manager working within our Project Management Office, your role will involve working with the Executive and Operations team(s) to build, update, track and monitor assigned projects and project plans. Your efforts will mean working cross-functionally with stakeholders across several departments to ensure your given project is well managed, fully integrated, and aligned with the organization's Master Project Plan. This volunteer role will have a profound and lasting impact on the organization as we work to create a human-style cancer agency for pets and their humans.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead cross-functional teams, both internal and external, to ensure successful delivery and completion of the project in compliance with regulatory and PCF governance requirements
- Develop project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders, and ensure implementation feasibility
- Develop detailed, comprehensive project plans with contributions from key stakeholders and team members
- Serve as the primary point of contact and the escalation point for the project
- Understand team members’ schedules and scope of work to harmonize with project allocations, workload, and ensure alignment with needs
- Monitor and track project progress to ensure all remain on track with performance targets, specifically to analyze both successful and unsuccessful completion of short and long-term goals and recommend appropriate actions
- Initiate and implement appropriate actions to proactively manage changes both internally and externally
- Proactively identify and develop action plans to resolve issues and respond to risks
- Manage communications, expectations, and strategies from inception through delivery of an engagement
- Ensure high-quality documentation of project delivery
- Develop strong, engaging relationships that foster partnership and growth
- Facilitate collaboration and communication among team members
- Proactively identify and resolve conflicts as needed
- Report status regularly and escalate, as needed, to key stakeholders
- Conduct post-project evaluation to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements and make recommendations to improve performance of future projects
About You:
You have a minimum of 5 years of experience in similar roles and have the highest of standards taking great pride in your work. Further, you are incredibly detail-oriented and proud of being a perfectionist when it comes to your projects. Being a team player with excellent communication and people skills is an absolute must. You have:
- Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years of project management experience with demonstrated success in leading and managing projects from initiation to completion
- 5+ years of experience in collaborating, within a matrix organization, with stakeholders across multiple areas to achieve a common business objective
- 3+ years of experience with entire system product lifecycles and various technology methodologies that support that lifecycle
- Demonstrated drive for results, and ownership in addressing business needs
- Proven ability to lead and work effectively in an ambiguous environment
- Demonstrated decisiveness in resolving business problems, making decisions, and identifying priorities
- Interpersonal skills to influence and initiate appropriate change, facilitate and enhance performance within a cross-functional environment
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification
- Experience working as a business analyst in addition to your project management responsibilities
