Medical Receptionist - URGENT - to start asap
Location : 2409 Yonge St. (Midtown Toronto, 3 short blocks north of Eglinton Station).
Position : Full-Time Medical Receptionist
Hours : Monday – Thursday 9am – 5pm, Friday 9am - 4pm have to be willing to work occasional evening clinics (5-8pm approximately once a week) and weekend clinics (approximately once a month)
Salary : commensurate with qualifications and experience, no medical benefits, hourly pay.
Job type: This is a 1. 0 FTE contract position.

We are a group of 5 family physicians who work in a busy midtown clinic called Five Points Family Health. We are looking for a Medical Receptionist to become a part of the team. Our team includes 5 family doctors, 2 medical receptionists, an out of office part time office manager, an out of office part time scanner and a registered practical nurse. The medical receptionist provides seamless support to our healthcare team and the patients and family members attending the Five Points Family Health Clinic.
The medical receptionist provides support to physicians including general clerical, receptionist and scheduling support.
Primary Responsibilities include:
-Provide administrative and clerical support to physicians and allied health professionals
-Schedule appointments, communicate appointments to patients and families or caregivers, and coordinate schedules to accommodate appointment vacancies or urgent appointments and initial triaging of patients
-Greet and direct patients in an efficient and professional manner
-Collect demographic information and health insurance information from patients, ensure information in the electronic record is accurate
-Answer telephones/check emails with proper protocol and respond to patient inquiries based on knowledge of the Medical Centre, policies, procedures and regulations.
-Assure all communications and transactions with patients and visitors are conducted in a mature, calm, sensitive and respectful manner.
-Coordinate external referrals/investigations and communicate to patients
-Effectively utilize the electronic medical record (EMR)- Telus Practice Solutions, to retrieve requested data
-Utilizing electronic health record system to enter, retrieve and document patient information, clinical tasks, communications, and physician orders accurately and efficiently.
-Scan appropriate documents into EMR
-Perform general administrative tasks such as word processing, filing, copying, faxing and mailing
-Provide back up coverage for other administrative assistants within the clinic as required
-Provide program support with minor administrative tasks, e.g. booking, rebooking and cancelling appointments
-Responsible for checking patients in at their appointment and bringing them in to rooms
-Responsible for helping with stocking/cleaning examination rooms/clinic and kitchen
-Responsible for third party billing/basic accounting/book keeping and collecting payments
-Will be required to work some short evening clinics
-Other duties as required
Qualifications and Skills Required
-The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar position within a healthcare environment, or health administrative education, experience in family medicine an asset
-Excellent interpersonal skills, with proven ability to work well in a team environment
-Must be able to multi-task and prioritize while working within a busy fast-paced environment
-Exceptional customer service, communication and organizational skills with the ability to work independently and as a team member
-Strong computer skills and knowledge of EMR system (Practice Solutions Software experience would be an asset) and computer scheduling systems
-Strong written and oral communications skills
-Ability to manage sensitive information with integrity and confidentiality
- Completion of a Police Clearance check /Immunization check prior to commencing employment. Covid vaccination required.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: $16.00-$19.00 per hour
