Job Description
Spadina Animal Hospital is a small animal veterinary clinic located in the core of downtown Toronto. We provide a full range of primary care veterinary services to all shapes and sizes of dogs and cats.
We need an amazing full-time or part-time team member who will be able to grow with our practice. Services offered include wellness examination and vaccinations, on site and reference laboratory sample testing, digital radiography, ultrasonography, acupuncture, nutritional counseling, medical hospitalization, dental prophylaxis, dental surgery, elective and non-elective soft tissue surgeries, orthopedic surgery, and boarding.
Position Overview
As a full-time veterinary receptionist you will be the face and voice of our veterinary care team. You will be the main point of contact for the medical care of our wonderful clienteles’ dogs and cats. You will be acquiring and establishing new clients by providing exceptional customer service and demonstrating a high value for our veterinary services. Telephone, in-person, and electronic interaction with our clients will be the cornerstone of your daily activities.
Our veterinary receptionists are also responsible for coordinating travel documents, booking examinations and anesthetic procedures, interfacing with insurance companies, and acting as a communication intermediary with other veterinary clinics. Inventory management, placing and receiving product orders from suppliers will be a daily activity.
All our veterinary care team members will also be involved in veterinary assistant activities, including animal handling for technical procedures and maintaining the comfort and daily care of all in-hospital patients.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate for this position will have the following skills and experience:
- Exceptional client communication skills – ability to handle the most difficult (and loved!) clients
- At least 2 years of experience in a veterinary practice
- Be able to help animals of all temperaments feel more comfortable at the veterinary clinic
- Strong knowledge of common veterinary medical issues
- Technical knowledge of everyday computer software and hardware problems, including Avimark
- Confidence with animal handling and a passion for animal care and welfare
