The role…
JFE Shoji Power Canada Inc. is seeking a highly energetic, motivated, Recruitment Specialist to join our growing team. The primary focus of this role will be to conduct the entire recruitment process for manufacturing operators, from sourcing and screening candidates to onboarding and orientation. As a Recruitment Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our manufacturing team is staffed with qualified and skilled professionals who align with our company values and mission, who will prepare us for the major growth we have planned both now and in future.
& the Duties…
- Recruitment Strategy Development: Collaborate with Talent Attraction Manager, HR team and hiring managers to develop effective recruitment strategies, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and values.
Sourcing and Screening: Proactively identify, attract, and engage potential candidates through various channels, such as job boards, social media, job fairs/trade shows, referrals, and industry networks. Conduct thorough resume screening and initial interviews to assess candidates’ qualifications, experience, and cultural fit.
Selection Process: Coordinate and manage the selection process, including scheduling interviews, coordinating assessments, conducting background and reference checks. Ensure a positive and professional candidate experience throughout the process.
- Onboarding and Orientation: Collaborate with Talent Attraction Manager, HR (PC), Operations, and Safety to build on and implement a comprehensive onboarding program for new hire manufacturing operators. Conduct orientation sessions weekly to familiarize all new hires with company policies, procedures, safety protocols and job expectations.
- Talent Pipeline Management: Build and maintain a strong network of qualified candidates for future hiring needs. Develop and nurture relationships with external partners, including technical schools, trade associations, and community organizations to attract talent.
- Recruitment Metrics and Reporting: Track and analyze recruitment data, including time-to-fill, cost-per-hire, source of hire, and candidate feedback. Generate reports and provide regular updates to leadership to drive process improvements.
- Employer Branding: Assist in enhancing the employer brand by promoting an exceptional candidate experience, managing online employer review sites, and participating in industry events and career fairs.
Compliance and Documentation: Ensure compliance with relevant labor laws, regulations, and internal policies. Maintain accurate up-to-date recruitment records, including managing and maintaining our applicant tracking system (ATS) and all associated data, and documentation related to the recruitment process.
- Will assist in new and ongoing projects as the company evolves and grows.

- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administrated or related field. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Must be a highly motivated self-starter, and able to work independently with minimal direction while taking initiative.
- Must have a high degree of persistence and personal standard in meeting or exceeding expected results.
- Experience as a recruitment specialist or in a similar role would be considered an asset.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple evolving priorities to meet deadlines.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly and effectively with hiring managers, candidates, and external partners.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and compliance.
- Proficient in using MS Office suite (word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other HR software tools including ATS systems, DocuSign, etc.
