Job Description
Mission Environmental Services Group is looking for a Recruitment Specialist to join our team. Reporting to the Senior Human Resources Manager, the candidate will be responsible for recruiting, building relationships, assisting with onboarding, and maintaining accurate records.

As a dynamic brand ambassador for Mission’s group of companies, the Recruitment Specialist will be responsible for executing strategic sourcing plans to create talent pipelines for drivers, labourers, tradespeople, and office professionals.
The Recruitment Specialist will plan and execute recruiting activities throughout the organization, ensuring effective delivery of recruitment strategies. Working closely with the Senior HR Manager at Mission and the General Managers and HR Representatives of our operating companies, the Recruitment Specialist will support and fulfill recruiting requirements across the business. This role will work as part of a North American team focused on finding talent and filling positions throughout Western Canada and the United States, particularly within the provinces of Alberta and British Columbia and the state of Washington.
Responsibilities
Talent Pipeline
- Develop recruiting and sourcing strategies through various channels and partnerships to generate candidate flow and talent pipeline requirements.
- Provide recommendations for innovative search strategies and solutions to recruit top talent.
- Proactively identify and cold call candidates to build a talent pipeline.
- Develop and maintain a network of contacts to help identify and source qualified candidates, including but not limited to: social media, driving schools, technical and trades schools, colleges, and professional associations.
- Organize and participate in recruitment events.
Full-Cycle Recruitment
- Collaborate with hiring managers to plan, develop, and implement the recruitment strategy for vacant positions; determine staffing needs and selection criteria to find quality candidates.
- Conduct full-cycle recruitment including sourcing, screening, interviewing, selecting, and hiring qualified candidates.
- Partner with business leaders and HR Managers to develop job descriptions and job postings.
- Establish and develop interview guides.
- Conduct pre-screens, interviews, and reference checks.
- Negotiate terms of employment agreement.
- Prepare and present offer letters.
- Assist with onboarding, including preparing new hire packages, and completing new hire documents and checklists.
- Maintain all supporting recruitment records in applicant tracking system.
Processes and Practices
- Develop and foster strong relationships with internal hiring managers by leveraging excellent communication skills.
- Foster strong relationships with diverse organizations and associations to attract and build candidate networks.
- Present a positive and professional image of the organization when interacting with employees, clients/customers, visitors, and other external stakeholders.
- Streamline recruitment processes and practices of subsidiary entities.
- Identify emerging recruitment trends and stay current with compliance requirements and industry best practices as it relates to the recruitment process.

Qualifications and Skills
- Passionate about being a recruitment subject matter expert.
- Skilled at mining talent pools, navigating employment landscapes, and executing web and social media campaigns in search of the right talent.
- Proven track record of working in a high-volume recruitment setting.
- Possess strong research, networking, and sourcing skills.
- Keen sense of self-motivation, problem-solving, and cultural sensitivity.
- Demonstrated attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and working in a rapidly growing business.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to develop strong working relationships at all levels of an organization: peers, managers, hiring managers, HR team, and senior leadership.
- Commitment to improving business processes and delivering services efficiently.
- Energetic with a strong work ethic and commitment to integrity and confidentiality.
Education and Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in full-cycle recruitment and talent acquisition.
- Undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, or related discipline.
- Professional Recruiting or Human Resources designation considered an asset.
- Proficiency in social media platforms and digital marketing tools (e.g. Indeed, LinkedIn, Facebook) for recruitment campaigns.
- Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS) and other recruitment software; experience with Collage is preferred.
- Experience in the waste management industry or related industry is considered an asset.
