RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).
Position summary
We are seeking a research assistant with experience in pediatric research. The research assistant will be involved in managing and conducting several clinical research projects in the areas of pediatric primary care and health equity. The projects will be conducted across several sites, including the Research Institute of the MUHC, the Montreal Children’s Hospital, and a Montreal primary care clinic.
General Duties
- Assist in the planning and organization of research projects,
- Assist in writing study protocols,
- Manage the procedures with the Research Ethics Board and Contracts Office (e.g. protocol approvals, amendments and annual renewals),
- Collaborate with physicians, clinic staff and research team,
- Recruit/consent research participants,
- Administer questionnaires,
- Review medical charts,
- Collect data qualitative and quantitative,
- Analysis of qualitative and quantitative data,
- Manage databases,
- Monitor study progress to ensure completeness and accuracy of data collected,
- Manage supplies and equipment (orders, purchases and maintenance) for study operations,
- Reviewing the literature (including systematic reviews and meta-analysis),
- Help oversee volunteers and trainees,
- Assist in knowledge translation activities.

Education / Experience
- Master’s in related field of study,
- Previous work experience in clinical research is essential,
- Previous experience with qualitative research is essential,
- Strong communication skills in both French and English (spoken and written) is essential,
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills,
- Ability to work independently and in a team,
- Ability to multitask,
- Competence with social media is an asset,
- Previous experience with RI-MUHC is an asset,
- Previous experience with working with multicultural communities is an asset,
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and qualitative software (Word, Excel, NVivo).
Additional information
Status: Temporary, Full-time (35-hour work week)
Pay Scale: $47,320 to $87,887.80, according to education and work experience
Work Shift: 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday
Work Site: Montreal Children’s Hospital, CORE research office (5252 de Maisonneuve O.), and primary care clinic
