Position Overview
The Department of Physiology & Pharmacology in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Research Assistant. This Fixed Term Recurring Part-time position is for approximately 2 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
Work may be repetitive at times. Work hours may vary when required to reach changing deadlines, workloads and priorities in a dynamic research environment. This position will work for 21-35 hours per week, with flexibility in the schedule. Students are welcome to apply.
Reporting to the Principal Investigator.
Position Description
Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):
- Flexibility and the ability to refocus to meet deadlines and cope with the dynamic nature of clinical research are key
- Able to prioritize tasks to comply with research protocol needs
- Data entry and analysis while maintaining research notes and standards
- Assist a team of Investigators and other researchers by providing data analysis support
- Participate in bench work including proteomics, metabolomics, cell culture, etc.
- Maintain communication with other groups and participate in continuing education
- Other administrative duties as required
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Must be registered in full-time academic studies in an undergraduate or graduate program in communications, health sciences, public policy, international development / relations, sociology, governance, law, or a related field
- Must return to full-time studies following summer placement
- Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
- Legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations
- Demonstrated skills in data analysis
- Strong Computer Skills, Microsoft Office suite, OneDrive experience, email and internet programs including MetaboAnalyist
- Strong and effective organizational, communication and interpersonal skills, verbally and written
- Ability to maintain accurate Laboratory records
