The BAR MANAGER will be responsible for helping the restaurant exceed service, sales, and profit objectives along with supervising and directing associates in daily work activities.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee and manage all bar staff and bar areas of the restaurant
- Manage staff, providing them with feedback, maintain a high level of employee morale
- Ensure positive guest service in all areas; investigate and respond to complaints, taking any and all appropriate actions to turn dissatisfied guests into return guests
- Recruit, train, motivate bar staff; oversee continual training and performance; keep employee records up-to-date and organized
- Create an engaging and energetic environment where all associates work as a highly functioning team
- Create and update the beverage list in coordination with the Director of Procurement and the General Manager
- Recommend food and beverage pairings; advise guests on beverages based on their personal tastes and food choices
- Adhere to company standards and service levels to increase sales and minimize costs, including food, beverage, supply, utility, and labour costs
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certification in related bartending and mixology an asset
- Smart Serve certification required
- 1 + years’ experience in the field as a Bar Manager or Restaurant Supervisor, in a similar environment
- 3 + years in bartending
- In depth knowledge / expertise of the hospitality / food & beverage service industry
- Diplomacy and hospitality – must exude this always, to employees and clients
- Well-developed problem solving and decision making capabilities
- Self-discipline, initiative, leadership ability and outgoing
- Self-motivated with a high degree of integrity, honesty and ethics; self-starter, flexible, and able to work independently
- Ability to multi-task, and change priorities constantly as needed in a fast paced environment
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Must possess good communication skills for dealing with diverse staff, verbal, written, and presentation
