Convergint is currently recruiting for a Security Project Manager/Security Supervisor to join our growing team in Atlantic Canada. This is an independent role across Atlantic Canada, ideally located in Nova Scotia or New Brunswick. As the Project Manager/Security Supervisor, you will be responsible for planning, scheduling, organizing and directing, application engineering, material and equipment procurement, field installation and start-up of assigned projects. You are responsible for effective scheduling and organization of technician activities to ensure that projects and service requests are executed within budget, on time, and with a high degree of customer satisfaction and ensuring positive cash flow.

What you’ll do with “Our Training and Your Experience”
- Manages, oversees and coordinates many aspects for small to large projects of varying complexity from award through completion of project, including: overall site management of project(s) for successful and timely completion within budget as required by the contract.
- Oversees all elements of service and quoted work orders along with CSP related work, including manpower scheduling, material procurement and/or cost control.
- Translates a variety of customer needs / requirements into detailed project plans to meet Customer requirements; reviews and approves estimated costs prior to bid; provision of technical assistance to sales force as and when required; project design engineering; supervision of installation labor and subcontractors; preparation of project schedules, subcontracts, change proposals, project invoices; assists with collections on projects.
- Effectively communicates project &/or service requirements to relevant team and wider organization as and when required and maintains accurate and up to date records of job status, job changes, material flow and other control records necessary for processing of internal and external reports.
- Maintains good customer relations, includes prompt response to customer requests and maintaining frequent customer contact.
- May provide pricing, quoting, order processing directly with customers for service work. Carefully monitors all financial aspects of the service work performed (costing, invoicing, billing time, revenue, margins, etc.)
- Works with Operations Coordination Team for effective delivery of customer service including scheduling of field technicians, approval of work order billings, as well as usage and reporting in iCare.
- In collaboration with Sales and CSP Coordinator, ensures timely contract renewal process is in place. Cultivates and maintains existing accounts and actively pursue new service and system expansion opportunities with existing service base.
- Identifies potential project risks and develops/implements strategies to minimize impact and control deviations from estimated costs and project deadlines.
- Proactively communicates project schedules, project change proposals and related project activities on a regular basis with customer and seek to continuously improve customer satisfaction.
- Coordinates the procurement of materials, supplies, services and controls necessary for timely and cost effective completion of project within budget.
- Establish project milestones and analyze costs; Exposure to financial systems to review actual vs. estimated job cost and to provide timely and accurate project cost reports; identify reasons for low job site productivity and determine impact on the project; adjusts or corrects project plan and/or project cost estimates as necessary to meet financial goals.
- Manage the execution and review of all scope of work, terms and conditions in customer contracts including cost control, delivery fulfillment, and quality of service and other customer requirements as they arise.
- May perform limited range of managerial responsibilities including but not limited to: planning, assigning and directing work; performance management; project budget. Oversees subcontractor selection process and work.
- Provide training and development planning and implementation for Security Technicians. Deliver technical training as well as individual performance development.
- Supervises colleagues in a manner that maintains morale, skills proficiency and productivity. In conjunction with the HR Department, recruit and hire colleagues as required. Performs limited range of managerial responsibilities including but not limited to mentoring, coaching and developing colleagues; works with OCT in planning, assigning and directing work; performance management; service budget. May oversee subcontractor selection process and performance.
- Provide first level of technical support coordination for Security Technicians. Provide high level field support for urgent or troubled projects. May perform high level programming for specific projects.
- Responsible for instilling a safety-conscious culture within the team. Ensure all relevant and required safety training and safety certificates have been obtained (e.g. site-specific safety orientations/mobilization, CPR, First Aid, OSSA certifications, etc.) May coordinate with other colleagues and/or leaders in order to achieve full safety compliance. Executes all work in accordance with Provincial, local regulations, general best practices.
- Ensure processes and standards involving Technicians are properly implemented. This includes turnover from Project Managers, verification of software licensing or certifications, proper red-line / as-built information provided from Technicians, timesheets (completed and approved on time), JHA's, Daily Reports, etc. Participate in Operations to Service turnover meetings.
- Provide first level of technical support coordination for Security Technicians. Provide high level field support for urgent or troubled projects. May perform high level programming for specific projects.
- Acts as “our customer’s best service provider” at all times thereby ensuring Convergint is the customer’s first choice for service.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.
What You’ll Need
- Good project management experience in a technical environment
- Exceptional customer focus and ability to regularly work under pressure; consistent ability to maintain awareness of and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted.
- Strong technical knowledge and experience related to electronic security systems; required to adapt and develop procedures, processes, tools to meet the more complex requirements of the job.

- Very adaptable – responds effectively to changes in situation or information; ability to influence others and build consensus using good written and verbal communication skills

- Basic knowledge and understanding of IT networking principles
Requirements
- Relevant field experience, or Diploma in Engineering
- Minimum of five years of previous, relevant field experience required.
- Minimum of three years of previous, relevant engineering, field service or project management experience is required in the Electronic Security industry
- Project supervisory experience preferred
