Reporting to the Manager of Intake and Urgent Care Services - Mental Health & Addictions, the the Crisis/Urgent Care Clinician provides advanced assessment, intervention, brief follow up and care planning for crisis/urgent care clients across the lifespan, with the goal of stabilization and connection to necessary Mental & Addictions services as required. The majority of consults are from the Emergency Department, but may also come from other services or departments both internal and external to Nova Scotia Health.
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Master’s Degree in Social Work
- Registered (or eligible) for licensure with appropriate licensing body; Nova Scotia College of Social Workers (NSCSW)
- Two (2) years' clinical experience specific to Mental Health & Addictions; preference will be given to applicants with experience in conducting crisis response/urgent care risk assessments and consultation services in Emergency Departments and/or mobile crisis in the community.
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI)
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
- Experience with or application of DSM
- Demonstrate strong skills in conducting mental status exams, focused on comprehensive assessment, and risk assessments
- Knowledge of legislation and responsibilities related to Involuntary Psychiatric Treatment Act (IPTA), Provincial Access Navigations Standards and Policies, Children & Family Services Act, Adult Protection Act and applicable NSH policy & standards
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

$36.58 - $48.09 Hourly
