The Integrated Forensic Program (IFP) provides mental health assessment and treatment to individuals living with serious mental illness who have come into contact with the criminal justice system. This position involves providing social work services to patients (and their families) who have been found Not Criminally Responsible for a crime on account of Mental Disorder (NCRMD)/Unfit to Stand Trial (UST) under the an Ontario Review Board (ORB) disposition order.Duties:- Provide individual, family and group therapy following best practice standards, consistent with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
- Complete risk assessment and crisis intervention plans.
- Engage client, family and caregivers in the clinical interventions and risk reduction strategies with the interdisciplinary team.
- Advocate on behalf of clients, families and caregivers for appropriate services and resources.
- Collaborate, consult and liaise with team members and community resources.
- Provide timely and comprehensive written psychosocial and risk assessments, treatment and discharge reports.
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of the theories and practices of a professional social worker.
- Maintain workload measurement and data collection as required (i.e. RAI).
- Participate in the teaching, education and supervision of Social Work students.
- Attend Social Work meetings and participate in discipline specific committees
- Attend Social Work peer consultation groups, and participate in peer consultation processes
- Complete and maintain all requirements for registration with OCSWSSW
- Keep current of hospital policies and procedures and applicable legislation.
- Keep up to date regarding professional standards by reviewing current literature, attending education events, networking with colleagues, etc.
- Provide educational presentations to community groups.
- Flexibility in work schedule; day and evening hours as required.
- Ensure Ontario Review Board disposition conditions are adhered through clinical supervision and assistance.
- Liaise with the Ottawa Police Services, as required.
- Liaise, consult and work collaboratively with community service providers.
- Provide evidence to the Ontario Review Board as requested or directed at NCRMD patient annual hearings.
- Conduct “Approved Person Assessments” and “Approved Accommodation Assessments” according to Ontario Review Board and Hospital standards.
- Work in a manner that is in compliance with staff and patient/client safety practices, policies and procedures of The Royal.

Qualifications:- Master’s degree in Social Work.
- Minimum 2 years within the last 5 years of clinical Social Work, experience in Forensic Psychiatry is preferred.
- Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Worker
- Demonstrated ability to work with an interdisciplinary team.
- Client and family-centred approach.
- Knowledge of applicable legislated acts (e.g. MHA, PHIPA, The Health Care Consent Act).
- Ability to manage and determine priorities with a diverse case load.
- Strong advocacy skills.
- High level of knowledge, skill and confidence in using electronic health record systems for clinical documentation and navigation.
- Proven presentation, training, and group facilitation skills is an asset.
- Experience in providing services and reports in forensic/court related matters is preferred.
- Advanced crisis intervention skills based on application of formal risk and clinical assessment.
- Conflict resolution knowledge related to addressing behaviour issues with forensic clients within the scope of social work practice.
- Understanding of the treatment and management of clients with severe and persistent mental illness and concurrent disorders.
- English level A- is mandatory in oral comprehension, expression, reading, and writing. Bilingual (English/French) is considered an asset.
Salary Range: $40.80 to $51.98 per hour
