Role Summary
As a SQL Developer you will work as part of a team that receives detailed and high-level requirements & specifications from our client for implementation. Working with Clients and other technical team members you will analyze, design, develop, optimize, test, and document SQL based queries and procedures to meet our clients’ needs. You passion for data will enable you to move quickly and develop meaningful and performant solutions to tough client questions. This position does not have any direct reports.
Major Areas of Responsibility
- Review and interpret ongoing business requirements
- Research required data
- Build queries that provide short- or long-term answers to business questions.
- Design and implement technical enhancements of Data Warehouse, Business Intelligence, or Big Data solutions as required
- Develop, implement, and optimize stored procedures and functions using appropriate database syntax and approach (Teradata USP, PL/SQL, SAS DI, SAS Enterprise Guide)
- Analyze existing SQL queries for performance improvements
- Develop procedures and scripts for data migration
- Enforce standards and discipline in the documentation and structured development
- Build appropriate and useful deliverables
- Conduct unit tests and assist in test preparations to ensure data integrity, data quality and program quality
Required Education and Experience:
- Diploma or Bachelors degree in computer science or related field
- 3-5 years’ experience in Data Analysis or related filed.
- 3-5 years’ experience a SQL Developer or similar role
- SAS programming (DATA step), SQL programming (i.e., use of SQL pass-through or PROC SQL).
- Excellent understanding of SQL Programming and entity relationships
- Experience with Teradata Stored Procedures (BTEQ), PL/SQL and other utilities
- Experience with Scheduling, SQL, UNIX Script, RDMS and Data Warehousing
- Understanding of data warehouse/big data architectures and entity relationships
- Ability to learn new interfaces between database and ETL tools
- Ability to solve technical problem / processes and understand complex details
- SAS Data Integrator experience an asset
- Visualization software (MicroStrategy/Tableau) an asset.
