What you’ll do
As part of our Finance Team, the Accounting clerk is responsible for processing and accuracy of all accounts payable transactions and records. This includes processing and paying accounts payable, reconciling and paying credit card/travel expenses, depositing cheques, supporting audits and maintaining accurate accounting documentation. The qualified candidate will have strong quantitative skills and is attentive to detail, as well as proficiency in A/P functions and software programs.
We are a hybrid organization with an office in downtown Vancouver. This role will require periodic office attendance to perform additional duties.
Your responsibilities
Accounts Payable
- Maintain an efficient and organized system for processing and paying invoices
- Ensure invoices are authorized in accordance with company policies and procedures
- Match source documents, enter them in procurement systems and ensure appropriate GL codes are assigned
- Work with team members and external vendors to resolve any invoice or payment issues and discrepancies
Taxes
- Comply with local, provincial, and federal government reporting requirements
- Collect and remit sales taxes monthly
- Record sales taxes charged by vendors
General
- Process team member expense reports
- Reconcile credit card statements
- Deposit cheques received in the office
- Provide information to third-party accounting and audit partners as requested
- Respond to inquiries and information requests in a solutions oriented and timely manner
- Maintain a complete and orderly digital and physical accounting filing system
- Provide vacation relief for Finance colleagues
- Provide additional clerical and administrative support for the Finance department as required
What we're looking for
- 1 to 2 years general accounting experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)
- Highly attentive to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Works independently and efficiently in a hybrid environment
- Excellent organizational skills
Bonus points
- Knowledge of Quickbooks and/or SAP Concur is an advantage
