Job Description
Located in our main headquarters in Montreal, Canada, the Finance & Accounting Manager will report directly to the VP of Finance and Admin and will work directly with the Office Manager, Third Party accountants and cross functional departments to assist in multiple aspects of the business.
Your Responsibilities:
In this role, you will be responsible for planning, directing and coordinating all accounting functions for both Canadian and US legal entities, which will include:
- Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements under IFRS
- Assist with reporting to external stakeholders (Banks, Shareholders/Investors, Vendors)
- Maintaining Canadian and US general ledgers
- Recognition, and recoding of sales based on revenue recognition criteria
- Support with the collection, vouchering in the accounting system and filing of vendor invoices and employee expenses
- Follow up on outstanding accounts receivables
- Managing budgeting and forecasting
- Reviewing and presenting reports to management
- Reviewing and submitting sales tax returns
- Compile departmental reports monthly, including preparation of actual to-budget analysis & other analytical reviews, as required
- Preparing other statistical, financial and accounting reports
- Reviewing and updating accounting processes to implement and maintain internal controls
- Provide recommendations and assistance to the executive team in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of modifications to existing operations, systems and procedures
- Interaction with the Executive Team and senior management on the day to day operations
- Assist with external financial audits and adhoc reporting requirements from government bodies including, but not limited to, grants milestone reporting, SR&ED.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
As the ideal candidate, you are an innovative accounting professional who is passionate about continuous learning and improvement. Excellent team player, who is also an independent thinker with the ability to remain objective. You have a strong technical ability, with a very high degree of accuracy. Your qualifications will include:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or similar discipline
- CPA Designated
- At least 5 years progressive experience in a Finance/Accounting role
- Knowledge of IFRS
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, eg. Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Teams
- Knowledge of accounting software and/or ERP
Other Skills :
- Excellent communication skills and writing skills in both French and English. Required to communicate with colleagues/clients across the country and abroad on a regular basis.
- Ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team
- High level of ownership of complete projects
- Ability to positively interact with engineering, operations, and sales teams
