Are you a detailed, meticulous person that enjoys balancing accounts and working with numbers? It takes organization and detail to be a Bookkeeper. You’ll be responsible for keeping track of all our company’s financial transactions; however, this job does not require an accounting education.

We are looking for someone that is eager and quick to learn new skills. Someone that may have never even thought of themselves as a bookkeeper before because this job is not all about accounting! It’s about understanding the ebb and flow of a business, which includes mainly its finances, but also their inventory and how they co-relate. Experience with excel and formulas would be a great asset to have. Customer service will be another smaller role of yours that will include answering the phones, dealing with customers and suppliers.
Accounting and/or Bookkeeping Assets preferred, but not required - Full training will be provided!
- Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
- Knowledge of general bookkeeping principles and practices
- Knowledgeable in current Provincial & Federal Guidelines re: accounting practices, ESA, etc.
- Previous experience with Sage and inventory - preferred, but not required
Here’s a look at some of the tasks/duties in a typical day that our Bookkeeper may include:
1. Tracking Cash Flow: Each day in a business, cash flows in and out. There are payments received and made. As our bookkeeper, you’ll be responsible for tracking them with Sage (our computerized software). You’ll need to make regular reports about cash flow to our General Manager.
2. Accounts Activity: You’ll enter daily transactions for customer accounts and internal accounts. These transactions include things like sales, expenses and payments. Keeping track of which account each transaction goes into will be very important. Another part of accounts activity is maintaining records and files. You will have receipts, invoices, reports and other documents that get filed away.
3. Billing: You will send out invoices to customers each day. This is how our company gets paid so it’s a pretty important task. You will need to keep track of when they are due and follow up with customers that are past their due date.
4. Reconciling Accounts: Balancing each account will be important. This is how you make sure all the transactions are accurate. You will print reconciliation and balance reports for our General Manager.
5. Writing Checks: You will cut and mail checks to vendors for purchases. These could be for supply orders, services or even office expenses.
6. Payroll: You will process payroll for the employees within our company.
7. Communication/Customer Service: You can see in each of the tasks listed above there is some type of communication. Each day, you’ll talk to customers, vendors and even employees within our company. You’ll attend meetings and discuss reports about the finances of the business and work closely with the General Manager. You may make calls, write business letters and/or send emails. This is how you keep track of financial activity in the business.

- 4 hours away from Toronto, ON
- 3 hours away from Kitchener, ON
- 6 hours away from Windsor, ON
We can provide transportation from Toronto to Tobermory at the employee's cost.
