At FunctionAbility, we appreciate the importance of balancing work and family priorities. As a result, while you will be assigned a case load, its scheduling will be completely up to you hence providing for ample flexibility.
Many of our clients have neurogenic cognitive-communication disorders. They may also experience difficulties with fluency, voice, speech, and dysphagia. There will be extensive clinical training to ensure you are confident in your role.
Position Description:
- The Communicative Disorders Assistant works under the direction of qualified speech-language pathologists. Responsibilities include facilitating the delivery of speech-language pathology treatment for our clients.
- To support the recommendations made by speech-language pathologists regarding cognitive-communication disorders, language, dysphagia, speech, voice, and fluency.
- Provides client and family-centred care, which is goal directed, evidence based and outcome oriented.
- To plan creative and meaningful treatment activities that are individualized to meet a client’s needs and interests.
- Records data relative to client performance and reports changes in client performance / status to the supervising speech-language pathologist.

Qualifications:
- Graduate of a Communicative Disorders Assistant program;
- Registration with the Communicative Disorders Assistant Association of Canada (CDACC);
- You have a valid Driver’s License and access to a vehicle; and
- Proof of professional liability insurance
