Place of Employment: Client homes and work sites outside of the client home as required.
Accountable to StarCare Nursing Services Director or Supervisor.
Job Summary: The Home Care Worker/Caregiver is a frontline position acting as a representative of Starcare Nursing Services Inc. and providing the home care services offered by the company. The Home Care Worker duties are not limited to those listed as the position has a wide scope of duties at times dependent on the client and always under the auspices of the company. The Home Support Worker will mostly work independently and therefore must balance good judgement and initiative along with the policies of the company.

Whether it is reading, chatting, taking a stroll or visiting with friends and neighbours, companionship provides the depth of our services.
The Home Care Worker/Caregiver will provide light housekeeping duties and assistance with Activities of Daily Living.
Dusting, sweeping, washing floors, vacuuming carpets, changing bedding, cleaning the bathroom; doing laundry and folding clothes; taking out garbage and general tidying of living spaces as required or requested.
Warming up/preparing meals. Serving meals. Feeding client. Showering. toileting and daily hygiene care. Assistance with mobility: turns, transfers, repositions, walk-assists.
A Home Care Worker/Caregiver may occasionally drive their car and transport a client to an appointment or errand upon written authorization from the company to do so. The Home Support Worker may also accompany the client to appointments or errands providing a helping hand.
Work Hours: This position may require some flexibility, various shifts at various times, and may include nights, weekends, and extended stay in one or more work sites.
Qualifications and Experience: Current recognized PSW, LPN, RN or HCA training certificate/diploma or experience. Current certificate in Standard First Aid and CPR. Experience in home care, acute care or caregiving required. Ability to work independently. Excellent communication and listening skills. Compassionate, patient and caring nature. Able to work in a stressful environment. Must be physically and mentally fit to handle the demands of care giving.
Valid RCMP Vulnerable Sector clearance required. TB screen and up-to date immunizations-flu preferred.
