POSITION VACANCY
POSITION: Long Term Care Assistant (LTCA) LOCATION: Yarmouth, NS
TYPE: Casual positions available
POSITION SCOPE:
The Meadows is seeking to hire several temporary LTCA who work under the direction of the People Services & Training Coordinator. The following are tasks this position may be responsible for, and include; facilitating indoor/outdoor visits between Residents and visitors, screening visitors for entry into the facility, ensuring appropriate paperwork is signed, escorting Residents and visitors to the designated visiting area, aiding communication between Resident and visiting parties, ensuring visitors and Residents are wearing proper PPE, demonstrating proper use of PPE /handwashing/sanitation and other safety protocols such as physical distancing. The LTCA will also be required to properly sanitize surfaces and items to contribute to the protection against infection. The LTCA may be expected to assist in other departments such as Recreation if operationally required. The LTCA will act in accordance with the Mission Statement, Standards, Policies and Procedures of Tidal View Manor (The Meadows). The LTCA contributes to continued quality improvement and supports all aspects of the Care Team in the safety and well-being of residents. While our mask and Covid vaccination mandates have been lifted, you may be required to wear a mask for the duration of a shift in the event of an outbreak. We also encourage our Care Team members to be vaccinated against the Covid and Flu viruses.The position requires the successful candidate to be available for days, weekends, possibly evenings, holidays and call-ins.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven ability to relate well to the elderly population, demonstrating a caring nature and sensitivity to their emotional, physical, spiritual, intellectual and social needs.
- Grade XII (or acceptable combination of education and experience).
- Previous work experience in a health care environment is considered an asset.
- Ability to hold in confidence all matters pertaining to residents, staff, co-workers and the organization.
- Strong communication skills; demonstrated ability to follow written and oral instructions; able to work effectively within a team and independently.
- Strong customer service skillset
- Ability to use sound judgment and initiative to solve problems; ability to follow established procedures without constant supervision.
- Physically able to perform job duties including highly active and physical nature of position; moderate lifting, pushing wheelchairs; and the ability to withstand the demands of lifting, reaching, standing and walking for majority of the workday.
- Well organized, resourceful with demonstrated ability to time manage and set priorities.
- Intermediary reading and writing,
- Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance; flexible to work all shifts and non-standard hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.
- For casual position, ability to work at short notice
