The Opportunity:
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Controller will be an instrumental addition to our growing team in managing the day-to-day financial operations with oversight of all accounting functions, financial reporting, compliance and internal controls, and team development. The mission of this role will be to support/improve the critical infrastructure required to achieve our growth objectives while ensuring complete transparency and visibility of the company's financial health. The Responsibilities:
- Financial Management:
- Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, financial reporting, and functional use of accounting system.
- Work collaboratively with all department leaders to increase their financial acumen and impact.
- Reporting and Compliance:
- Deliver accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Preparation/approval of monthly supporting reconciliations and documentation for balance sheet and selected income statement items analyzing revenue, gross margin and expenses.
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and other financial reporting requirements.
- Ensuring a robust internal control environment with appropriate supporting processes (documented using proper documentation standards)
- Collaborate with external auditors and assist in the preparation of audit materials and responses to audit inquiries.
- Manage and submit government filings, such as tax returns and regulatory reports.
- Strategic Financial Planning:
- Assist in preparing annual budgets, financial forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
- Provide insights and recommendations to optimize financial performance and operational efficiency.
- Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration, growth, and excellence.
- Mentor and provide guidance to team members, encouraging their professional development.
- Promote a positive work environment that aligns with our values and promotes teamwork and innovation.
Qualifications:
- CPA designation is required
- Proven experience as a Controller or similar role, preferably in a physical product, technology or retail environment
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and financial analysis.
- Proficient in financial software systems and tools; experience with large ERP systems (Netsuite preferred)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
- Strong leadership abilities with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating across diverse teams.

Compensation Range: $90k -125k CAD
